AVRMC ARKANSAS VALLEY REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER Charge Clerk (Medical Records) in LA JUNTA, Colorado

POSITION: Charge Clerk (Medical Records)

DUTIES: Abstracts information from the patient's medical record. Ensures accuracy and integrity of the medical record information abstracted. Entails access to confidential information such as PHI, therefore, must demonstrate ethical behavior and respect for security and privacy. Answers the phone promptly, courteously, and professionally and handles calls appropriately. Takes personal responsibility to provide exceptional customer service in order to promote and maintain a positive image of AVRMC. Promotes pride and professionalism in the work place. Reviews outpatient accounts for appropriate infusion assignment. Verifies hierarchy of CPT assignment. Verifies ICD-10CM codes for meeting medical necessity. Compiles statistical reports within the required time frames. Assumes responsibility for cross-checking quality, accuracy, and completeness of Infusion records. Responsible for Calculation and assignment of Observation hours. Responsible for other clerical duties, release of information. Cross train to review and assign ED Physician evaluation and management levels.

REQUIREMENTS: Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality is required. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.

PREFERRED SKILLS: ICD-10 CM and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding preferred not required. Medication Administration experience or knowledge preferred not required. Prefer experience in medical record management. Prefer experience in medical terminology.

WAGE: $15.00 - $24.78 per hour

SHIFTS: Full-Time, 24/7 Facility - Various Schedules Available
