The Onboarding Technical Trainer Group Leader is responsible to coordinate, implement, support, and communicate training efforts under the guidance of operations leadership, and works with all levels of staff to help create and conduct training and recertifications. This person will oversee the full spectrum of onboarding training for new employees, and is responsible for developing manufacturing shop floor talent to meet the company’s operational requirements. This includes a strong ability to lead teams, manage projects and influence others in a cross-functional environment of production processes, such as machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly, related to the manufacturing of HVAC centrifugal chillers. Limited travel may be required.

Where is the work:

This position will be onsite each day in La Crosse, WI and is considered safety-sensitive.

What you will do:

  • Work with all levels of staffing to determine training needs and coordinate and schedule training in both production and office atmospheres.

  • Plan required resources each year, determine annual departmental budget and administer the budget during the year, including periodic forecasting.

  • Supports development and maintenance of quality and process documentation including standard work generation and modification.

  • Manage the overall training process, ensuring that all instruction is completed in a professional and effective manner, and that all students receive and retain the appropriate information.

  • Give plant tours and present material in a classroom, lab or shop atmosphere to a group of individuals.

  • Track and maintain accurate training records and requirements utilizing computerized and web-based systems.

  • Develop necessary training materials and tools with the BOS standard as guidance.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all training initiatives and implement changes as necessary.

  • Utilize and train to training methods including TWI

  • Must be willing to learn subjects that are being trained such as brazing, welding, wiring, TLDP, PIV, lean, etc.

  • Conduct line audits of newly certified employees to assure they can adapt to the process, are using the proper PPE required, and verify that quality standards are being met.

  • Establish, design, and deliver quality presentations regarding safety, quality, and techniques used to train on new and existing processes, and update existing processes to OSHA standards.

  • Lead and participate on miscellaneous projects and continuous improvement teams utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools and methodology.

What we expect of you:

Bachelors degree in a related field is preferred, and an Associates degree is required.

  • Two (2) or more years of related work experience required (will consider co-ops and internships as experience).

  • A minimum of two years in a leadership position is required.

  • Willing and able to work a variety of shifts and locations.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles a plus.

  • Possess initiative to develop technical skills, interpersonal skills and career paths for coworkers.

  • Must be a high-energy self-starter, results-oriented, proactive and able to work effectively with little supervision.

  • Strong work ethic, great attitude, customer-focused, team-oriented and results driven.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $110,000-$130,000.

Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
