Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an onsite position in our Engineering Test Laboratory (Lab) in La Crosse, Wisconsin as a Laboratory Materials and Inventory Control Technician. Your primary function in this position is Material and Inventory Control (MIC) support to the Laboratory as well as product design engineering teams through procurement planning and execution; shipping and receiving; warehouse inventory, organization, and management including material/unit transportation and disposal; data entry and compliance documentation. The job requires problem solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other lab and engineering team members to ensure timely completion of projects. This position is salaried non-exempt.

Where is the work:

This position has been designated as onsite .

What you will do:

  • Work safely and maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures

  • Plan and execute procurement of equipment, tools, and supplies to support laboratory operations and engineering product teams

  • Manage, organize, track, and dispose of parts, units, and equipment inventory for the laboratory tool crib and warehouse storage locations

  • Finalize and validate logistical planning, performance, and documentation of shipping and receiving activities for laboratory and product engineering materials in accordance with regulatory and company requirements

  • Properly and safely prepare units, parts, and materials for storage and/or disposal in cooperation with product test teams

  • Safely and effectively operate powered industrial vehicles to include forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as necessary to fulfill the above responsibilities

What you will bring:

  • 2-year associate degree in Logistics, Inventory Management, Procurement and Purchasing, or a related field – or – 1-year certificate/diploma with minimum 3 years relevant work experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) required

  • Forklift and other powered industrial vehicle certification or a willingness to become certified

  • EPA Type Universal Certification or willingness to become certified is preferred

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in order to listen and speak effectively with individuals and groups of customers or employees in the organization

  • Ability to understand and follow current work instructions and applicable laboratory procedures and standards

  • Well organized with the ability to create and maintain records related to purchasing, shipping and receiving activities including domestic and international regulatory compliance

  • Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate power hand tools and powered industrial vehicles (e.g. forklift, motorized pallet handlers)

  • A basic understanding of HVAC equipment, parts, and materials.

  • Ability to help solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced team environment

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $45,000-$75,000

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
