The Industrial Engineer is responsible for technical support of production processes, such as machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly, related to the manufacturing of HVAC centrifugal chillers. Analyzes, plans, implements, and improves manufacturing process documentation at the site level to optimize manufacturing of large HVAC equipment and subcomponents while meeting regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and business goals. This position is based out of our campus in La Crosse, WI; requires daily onsite presence, and is considered a safety-sensitive role.

What you will do:

  • Work with factory staff and manufacturing engineers to configure the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) as manufacturing processes and products change.

  • Maintain shop floor information systems and documentation of processes.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to create new shop floor documentation to convey requirements of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, assembly, and product testing.

  • Maintain effective change control of all process documentation.

  • Maintain compliance of shop documentation with internal and external process requirements, effectively capturing all critical-to-quality (CTQ) or critical-to-safety work steps and conveying them to operators in the manufacturing process.

  • Utilize shop floor systems to convey special features for Engineered-to-Order products.

  • Evaluate and improve compliance of shop documentation to standard work and best practices on the production floor.

  • Prepare and implement detailed plans to ensure that process changes are documented and managed in a controlled fashion, and new product introductions are implemented effectively and within required timeframe.

  • Collaborate with factory staff and manufacturing engineers to determine tools, methods, equipment, materials or parts, and sequence of events in manufacturing process.

  • Collect and organize data from shop floor systems into actionable information for improving process efficiency.

  • Find and fix material routing issues within shop floor systems.

  • Troubleshoot technical and configuration issues with MES, and train personnel on use of the system.

  • Translate internal and external customer requirements into MES functional development requests, and then test those developments.

  • Support lean initiatives (5S, Rapid Improvement Events, site KPIs, Managing for Daily Improvement, 9 step problem solving, etc.).

What you will bring:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field of experience preferred; will consider related work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Two (2) or more years of related work experience required (will consider co-ops and internships as experience).

  • Experience with ISO, Lean Manufacturing and root cause analysis.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and drawings.

  • Strong MS Excel skills, and experience with DELMIA Apriso MES and Oracle ERP preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization is required.

  • Possess initiative to further develop technical skills, interpersonal skills and career path.

  • Strong work ethic, great attitude, customer-focused, team-oriented and results driven.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $80,000-$110,000/annually.

Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
