As Associate Scientist / Lab Technician Downstream Processing (DSP) Biomolecules (f/m/d) you will be part of a young, cross-functional R&D organization for development of microbial manufacturing processes covering the full Novartis biologics and cell and gene therapy pipeline. Your responsibilities include, but not limited to: • Plan, organize, perform and document scientific experiments (development standard/ GMP) under moderate supervision; Take over responsibility for and utilize special tools/equipment or specialized facilities under moderate supervision; schedule and perform maintenance and qualification of instruments/equipment; Keep record of chemicals, intermediates, excipients, or consumables • Work according to appropriate standards for quality, ethics, health, safety, environment protection, and information security; actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives • Documentation of raw data, evaluate and interpret results obtained for advanced but established methods or procedures. Review and verify raw data generated by others • Write proceedings, reports or lab procedures based on templates under moderate supervision • Recognize, communicate and provide input to the solution of problems (e.g. deviations or unexpected results from experiments); address and solve complex problems within own area of responsibility • Contribute to development of new methods or optimize existing methods; Contribute to the • Evaluation of new lab equipment. Perform information searches under moderate guidance. Actively participate in knowledge exchange. Train and coach technicians, temporary employees and employees under training/education \n\n\n\n Position Title: Associate Scientist Downstream Processing (DSP) Biomolecules (f/m/d) Minimum requirements: What you’ll bring to the role: • Apprenticeship in industry (“Laborant/in Technische Assistenz”) or Bachelor/Master of Science (or equivalent technical education) with 3 years of relevant experience in industry or equivalent • Adequate theoretical and scientific knowledge in downstream processing (especially chromatographic methods like ion exchange / hydrophobic interaction / affinity / mixed-mode / reverse phase) • Good practical knowledge of laboratory and/or technical equipment • Fluent in German, basic knowledge of English • Awareness for safe handling of chemicals, potentially dangerous materials and equipment. • Adequate knowledge of lab-software and computer tools. • Good documentation skills Why Novartis? 769 million lives were touched by Novartis medicines in 2020, and while we’re proud of this, we know there is so much more we could do to help improve and extend people’s lives. For this position the minimum salary is € 37,756/year (on a full time basis).
