Summary:

The Idaho Department of Correction currently has an opening for an Administrative Assistant 2 at the Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI) in Kuna, Idaho. This position provides support to the Idaho State Correctional Institution’s Deputy Warden of Security, managers, staff, clients and related tasks to keep the office running.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform high level support duties.

  • Incumbents have a major role in assisting the Deputy Warden of Security with grievances.

  • Incumbents have a role in administrative activities supporting security and non-security staff. This requires the incumbent to utilize effective public relations and liaison skills.

  • Incumbents function with considerable independence and exercise discretion in applying policies and procedures.

  • Independently research, analyze, and compile information to prepare reports, handle complaints, or resolve problems; compose correspondence on own initiative or from general instructions; format/type a variety of executive, sensitive, confidential, official and/or legal letters, and documents.

  • Incumbent will supervise the AA1 position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of office support functions including word processing and filing. Typically gained by at least one year of experience in an office environment performing a wide variety of office support functions as the predominant responsibility of the job, (answering telephones, using knowledge of computer software, filing systems and general office equipment). OR completion of two semesters of Office Procedures coursework AND six months of office support experience.

  • Good knowledge of composing a variety of business documents. Typically gained by at least 1 year of office experience which required composing and proofreading a variety of business documents on a regular basis.

  • Good knowledge of researching, compiling, and summarizing data for reports. Typically gained by at least one year's work experience compiling data/information for reports OR approximately six months work experience researching and compiling data for reports (completing reports for college-level courses is acceptable).

  • Experience interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or services. Typically gained by aiding an executive, administrator, and/or manager by interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulation, policies or services. Experience in this area should have been of an independent nature where you were responsible for establishing your own work methods. Duties required analysis of technical data and independent decision making.

  • Experience independently solving problems/performing liaison activities in a work setting; coordinating activities requiring complex arrangements.
