Overview
As part of the Celestica Global Automation team, you will be part of a small Design team that designs custom automation for Celestica’s global requirements, including stand-alone cells and large robotic assembly lines. As a leader you bring experience in machinery design concepts, safety and global standards. With this knowledge you are comfortable working in a team environment to build world-class equipment.
In this role, you will report to the Standard Design Leader.
Job Responsibilities :
Design of Electrical systems for automation stations and assembly lines
Knowledge of PLC architecture, Electrical panel design, power and safety circuit design.
Analysis of inputs and User Requirements in order to determine function of equipment to be documented into Project Specification.
Ability to use E-plan to create full electrical schematics
Knowledge of IEC, ISO, CE, and cUL international standards
Ability to recommend and manage electrical system heating, component obsolescence.
Ability to integrate robots, machine vision systems, servos and other devices
Prepare and proposed solutions to issue in Technical Design review session
Ensure a safe work environment for one’s self and others when designing and commissioning machines
Document and communicate all requested design changes to various teams through approve change process.
Formalize and update electrical documentation such as electrical schematic diagram
Liaise with vendors for technical information and specifications
Liaise with assembly personal and Software/Mechanical engineer in the completion of equipment and resolving problems
Knowledge of fieldbuses including EtherCat.
Ability to integrate into databases and MES
Prior experience with electrical safety systems design and software
Understanding of complex machines with multiple software platforms and the ability to integrate hardware such as screw guns, dispense systems, laser marking systems
Project Execution
Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Assist in preparing customer documentation
Provide technical information for engineering test and validation plan , operation manuals , SAT, FAT
Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
Complete other duties and projects as assigned
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and or travel as required in varying timelines
Ensure scheduled milestones are met
Travel
- Expectation of travel to vendor/supplier locations is less than 15% of time, however may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet project needs
Qualifications
Has successfully completed either a University Degree or College Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 5 years in automation design at a machine integrator
Previous supervision of small team
Fluent in English
