JOB SUMMARY

This leader of the Sales, Marketing and Reservations Department at the 420 room Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur is a key Executive Committee member at the hotel. Working in partnership with a dynamic senior team at the distinctive Le Méridien hotel, this person is responsible for achieving the hotel sales goals and property revenues. They provide inspiring leadership to their teams, and work seamlessly with other departments at the hotel. The hotel has established itself as a premium hotel in Kuala lumpur Sentral, with excellent service levels, outstanding restaurants, a large events business, as well as significant Outside Catering events.

The Sales & Marketing leader will implement and execute sales strategy in line with the brand and strong customer relationships that already exist to achieve the hotel’s’ sales budget. In addition, they will manage Marketing budgets and strategies to enable development of property specific campaigns, promotions and collateral to drive revenue and meet hotel objectives.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

10 years’ experience in the field of Hotel Sales and Marketing

Demonstrated success in leading and managing a team.

Hotel industry work experience with strong career progression and proven sales performance.

Preferred

Degree from an accredited university preferably in Business Admin, Marketing or Hotel Management.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Managing Sales Activities

  • Leads the development of a strategic account plan for the hotel.

  • Functions as the leader of the property’s sales, marketing and reservations department as well as serving as the sales contact for the General Manager, Property Leadership Team, Group Sales and Area Sales leaders.

  • Executes the sales strategy in order to meet individual booking goals for both self and the team.

  • Leads sales strategy meetings to provide input on weekly and overall sales strategy.

  • Provides customer intelligence in evaluating the market and economic trends that may lead to changes in sales strategy to meet or exceed customer expectations.

  • Serves as the sales contact for customers; serves as the customer advocate.

  • Suggests innovative marketing ideas and develops deployment strategies to continue to grow market share.

  • Determines and develops marketing communication activities.

  • Manages Marketing budget to enable development of property specific campaigns, promotions and collateral to drive revenue and meet property goals.

  • Serves as the property sales liaison with Area Sales, Group Sales, Revenue Management, Event Management, Regional Marketing Communications and other hotel departments as appropriate.

  • Evaluates property’s participation in the various sales channels (e.g., Area Sales, Group Sales within the Sales Office, electronic lead channels, etc.) and develops strong working relationships to proactively position and market the property.

  • Researches competitor’s sales strategies to identify ways to grow occupancy and RevPAR and increase market share.

  • Provides day to day leadership to Sales Team Members to achieve property sales objectives with overall responsibility to achieve booking goals and property revenue.

  • Sets goals and expectations for direct reports using the Leadership Performance Accelerator (LPA), aligns performance and rewards, drives recognition, guides and monitors performance gaps and holds individual team member accountable for successful results.

  • Coaches leaders of revenue generating departments in developing effective revenue strategies and setting aggressive goals that will drive the property's financial performance.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.
