Grand County 4-H Coordinator in Kremmling, Colorado

JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for assisting with planning, coordinating, supporting and advising 4-H activities in Grand County.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provides supervision and support to, and coordinates efforts with, 4-H volunteers. May direct, monitor, and lead the work of other employees, which may include a CSU Extension Intern and 4-H program volunteers. Assists with monthly 4-H youth Council meetings/training to support youth programs, including facilitating meetings, helping to prepare budgets, et Assists with the set up and coordination of all 4-H related fair events, including Exhibit Day, livestock, horse, and other animal shows, as well as the Junior Livestock Sale. Plans and executes recognition events such as 4-H Achievement Night, Leader Appreciation Dinner, etc. Keeps all elementary, middle school, and high schools, the local newspapers and radio stations informed of 4-H activities. Investigates ways of increasing membership through better understanding of 4-H program. Keeps informed of available Colorado State 4-H projects. Assists with the establishment of necessary trainings for 4-H youth and 4-H volunteers. Coordinates incoming information with staff and 4-H Council. Plan and implement 4-H summer day camps. Provides direction, support and organizational help to Cloverbud programs. Assists in the planning, organizing, administrative work and managing of all youth events at the yearly 4-H Middle Park Fair and Rodeo. Establishes new community 4-H clubs and projects as needed, including pulling curriculum from surrounding states when needed and connecting 4-H members with knowledgeable resources. Coordinates youth activities with other youth education organizations. Assists organizing and planning outreach and school enrichment programs in the name of CSU 4-H Youth Development. Assists with 4-H educational display and exhibits as appropriate to new audiences. Cooperates in regularly scheduled county staff conferences to coordinate plans, activities and joint work to promote staff teamwork. Recruits program volunteers; coordinates volunteer onboarding, training, interpersonal relations, and performance management; investigates and troubleshoots volunteer or participant misconduct; seeks and coordinates problem resolution through appropriate channels. Oversees and monitors the work of volunteers who provide leadership, technical expertise, transportation, and chaperone services for events and activities; ensures that volunteers serve as role models and fulfill their program responsibilities to teach, mentor, and safeguard program participants. Identifies potential risk and safety issues during event planning; develops, recommends, and implements policies and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure volunteer and participant safety; designs and develops activities to meet insurance and safety requirements. Provides support and assistance for out-of-county camps, retreats or other events; arranges transportation and other logistics; obtains insurance and permits as needed. Attends meetings and training; serves on committees, teams, and task forces as assigned; performs and/or participates on special projects. Participates in organizing and writing monthly newsletter. Reviews incoming 4-H literature and routes appropriately. Organizes and inputs reporting data to State 4-H and Extension System. Helps organize and attends various Extension and 4-H retreats, conferences and meetings. Performs Administrative Assistant duties as assigned. Performs other related job duties as assigned.
