Staff Engineer, Quality

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite at Kohler, WI

Opportunity

Under the direction of the Plant Quality Manager, Cast Iron, Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining, updating, and enforcing the company’s quality standards and improving process’s reliability and performance. Senior Quality Engineer is also responsible for identifying and raising quality issues and for speedily resolving them to ensure zero impact to the customer. Support new product introductions to ensure the robustness of product builds.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Stress and enforce all safety codes and regulations.

  • Ensure products adhere to company and industry quality standards and improve product quality by making recommendations for change when applicable.

  • Work together with relevant teams and departments to Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues.

  • Document results and findings after inspections are carried out.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards.

  • Actively participate in, and lead scrap reduction teams in the foundry and molding lines.

  • Participate actively in the annual cost reduction program to maintain and improve the margins of our product line.

  • Collaborate and engage with all departments and associates to maintain, improve, and control the documented procedures, work instructions, reference documents, forms, training documents, and other aspects of the QMS.

  • Oversee and administrate Process Auditing, which includes issuing and following up on Corrective Action Requests (ICAR) into the access database.

  • Participate and lead internal audits and drive recommended improvements in each process area.

  • Responsible for writing and updating of ISO procedures, when necessary.

  • Undertake special projects as required.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree on Engineering (Metallurgical, Chemical) from an ABET college or university is required.

  • Knowledge of metallurgy as it relates to sand casting grey and ductile iron is required.

  • Proven experience and strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Red-X, Shainin Journeyman level and/or Six Sigma Black Belt are required.

  • Advanced in analysis of data, Regression Analysis and Multi-variate hypothesis testing.

  • Strong Lean Manufacturing knowledge and demonstrated proficiency.

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams formulated to problem solving and improve manufacturing processes.

  • Experience in the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)

  • Knowledge of ISO9000 is required, of IATF16949 is desired.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Proficiency in Power-BI and SQL database processing is desirable.

  • Able to work efficiently in a team environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is $98,900 - $125,600. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
