Sr. Project Engineer, NPD Supplier Quality Kohler Energy

Work Mode: Hybrid

For the last 100 years, our engines, generators and UPS products have powered homes, hospitals lawn mowers, stadiums, and everything in-between. As a Senior Project Engineer, Supplier Quality

in the Power Group, you will have the opportunity to impact Kohler’s ability to meet customer requirements by driving quality throughout Kohler’s supply chain. It will be your responsibility to manage processes and the quality requirements for a diverse supply base and execute improvement activities with these suppliers. In addition, you will have the ability to implement internal controls to ensure effective use of supplied product within Kohler’s operation to promote product quality.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Represent Quality on New Product Development teams.

  • Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, and the Suppliers to successfully launch new purchased components.

  • Utilize structured problem-solving technique and drive continuous process improvement to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

  • Manage supply base of over 200 suppliers ranging from electronics manufacturing to sheet metal fabrication.

  • Review and approve supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for current product changes.

  • Complete on-site assessments and supplier qualification activities in conjunction with the Procurement organization.

  • Lead problem solving teams both internally and externally to minimize production impact of quality defects.

  • Drive process integrity for supplier change management for Kohler product.

  • Provide technical data and process limitations for supplied product to assist in vendor selection process.

  • Complete analysis of quality defects found at customer sites and drive improvement activities to mitigate risk of future failures.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from ABET accredited program.

  • 4+ years of manufacturing or quality experience is required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience using systematic problem-solving approaches: 6 sigma, root cause analysis, statistical analysis and 8D problem solving.

  • Ability to travel on short notice is required.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working with Automotive Industry Action Group’s (AIAG) processes for Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

  • Demonstrated skills in project management and leadership as well as the ability to work in a team environment are required.

The salary range for this position is $89,800 - $114,100. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
