Opportunity

Assist Executive Housekeeper in directing Destination Kohler Housekeeping staff to accomplish established systems through the proper use of product/process and service to maintain excellence in housekeeping (including rooms, interior and exterior public space and conference space) which meet the standards of a 5-Diamond 5 Star resort.

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper collaborates with and supports Executive Housekeeper in maintaining all standards of Destination Kohler Housekeeping.

Specific Responsibilities

Appearance and presentation of hotel guest rooms, facilities and public areas:

  • Oversee and direct inspection procedures to ensure continuous high levels of cleanliness and detail are being maintained.

  • Oversee and direct general cleaning procedures to ensure the housekeeping staff’s compliance with expected standards for cleanliness and detail.

  • Personally monitor and inspect public areas and guestrooms for cleanliness on a random basis each day take corrective action as needed.

  • Monitor the handling of soiled and clean laundry product to ensure an acceptable finished product appearance and lifespan.

  • Lead by example by assuming a supportive leadership style and assisting the Housekeeping team when necessary.

  • Conduct regular inspection calibration sessions with Leads and Coordinators to ensure all leaders are holding their team members accountable to the same criteria.

  • Participate in resort MOD weekend & daily rotation as defined by the program

Departmental expense control:

  • Monitor labor and department expense to ensure that costs are within budgeted guidelines and are justified based on occupancy.

  • Monitor and control usage of cleaning and guest supplies to curb waste and unauthorized use.

  • Strive to use eco-friendly chemicals and products that meet Kohler standards and requirements.

  • Address and submit recommendations for continual improvement of expense management for the housekeeping and public areas at Destination Kohler Lodging properties to the Executive Housekeeper

  • Assist in the development and recommendation of annual budgets for the housekeeping department at Destination Kohler

Staff Engagement:

  • Continually seek opportunity to keep housekeeping staff highly engaged. This may include creating social options, reward and recognition opportunities

  • Monitor and maintain all metrics as related to induvial housekeeping staff for promotional opportunities to develop associates

  • Effective developmental one on one meetings with associates.

Staff Supervision:

  • Direct and coach housekeeping leaders to maintain and improve upon staff cleaning procedures and cleanliness standards.

  • Direct and coach general housekeeping staff to ensure housekeeping ensure that all housekeeping and laundry personnel present themselves in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with hotel guests and fellow associates.

  • Support scheduling coordinator in scheduling housekeeping staff at DK according to labor standards.

  • Oversee and/or initiate disciplinary/coaching actions to staff when performance or behavioral standards are not being met.

  • Oversee the preparation of timely and thorough staff performance review for general housekeeping.

  • Prepare and submit for approval ACT’s to address staffing needs or departmental structure as directed by Executive Housekeeper.

  • Facilitate morning updates at various properties, covering daily message, Own the Now and Five star criteria.

Staff Training:

  • Oversee and direct initial housekeeping training for staff according to Training Certification processes.

  • Maintain and monitor the effectiveness of department programs such as inspection score cards, training program and on boarding. Change programs as needed.

  • Oversee the uniform program and inventory.

  • Schedule and conduct department training meetings to address new policies procedures and associate concerns.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and OSHA training standards.

  • Ensure compliance with Healthy inspection are successful.

  • Regularly attend staff morning meetings/huddles at each property in Destination Kohler Housekeeping

Skills/Requirements

  • Four-year degree with a Major area of study could include hospitality or other applicable/transferable education.

  • Past experience with proven results in the above-mentioned areas will be strongly considered in lieu of education credentials.

  • Two to Four years total experience as Executive Housekeeper and/or Assistant Housekeeper of a lodging facility.
