POSITION:Park Ranger, GS-0025-05 (2 positions available)

SALARY:$45,603- $ 59,279 per year, $21.85 - $28.40 per hour (plus 3.00% COLA) The Full Performance Level (FPL) is GS-0025-05.

LOCATION:Kodiak, Alaska

WHO MAY APPLY: Any qualified U.S. citizen who has lived or worked in or near Alaska public lands and has special knowledge or expertise concerning the natural and cultural resources of the public lands and the management thereof. This includes an applicant who was once a resident, moved away, but is intending to re-establish local residency. * WORK PERIOD:This is a full-time, temporary appointment Not-To-Exceed 1039 hours. * ORGANIZATION:Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge

DUTIES:The incumbent serves as Park Ranger for the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. Duties include serving as a Visitor Services Specialist at a National Wildlife Refuge assisting with the operations of the refuge's visitor services program.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1.Applicants must have knowledge or expertise concerning the natural or cultural resources of public lands in Alaska and the management thereof. Knowledge of refuge boundaries, wilderness areas and subsistence uses within those areas. 2.Knowledge of traditional gathering and use of fish and wildlife resources by residents living on or near a refuge or other public lands. 3.Knowledge of Alutiiq/Sugpiaq culture, traditions, and lifestyle. 4.Knowledge of weather, river channels and conditions, travel routes to safely travel on or near a refuge or other public lands in a variety of conditions. The employee requires special knowledge and understanding of the following location: Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. 5.Knowledge of laws and regulations associated with sport and subsistence fishing and hunting on a refuge or other public lands.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1.Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid by the Department. Any travel, transportation and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee. 2.U.S. Fish and Wildlife has determined that this position is not suitable for telework. 3.Must have a valid State Driver's license is required. 4.All Federal employees are required by PL 104-134 to have federal payments made by Direct Deposit. 5.Background Investigations: Employment in this position requires a background investigation which may delay your starting date.
