US Coast Guard Nonappropriated Funds - NAF Greenskeeper (5) in Kodiak, Alaska

*This position is from May through October. The incumbent will be on Leave Without Pay (LWOP) from November through April.

DUTIES

:

Perform mowing, watering, and basic maintenance of the golf course. Mows greens, rakes traps, waters, cuts fairways, tees, aprons, and rough areas as needed. Aerates, fertilizes, and applies fungicides and insecticides as directed. Prunes trees and shrubs.

May be required to operate heavy equipment.

May be required to assist in the pro shop/snack bar as necessary.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Use required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures.

Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

:

Minimum

:

  1. High school diploma, GED or Trade School graduate.

  2. Experience working outdoors.

  3. Experience following oral and written instructions.

  4. Must have a valid state drivers license.

  5. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 45 pounds.

Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

1.

Experience in grounds maintenance and accepted methods used in seeding, mowing and replacing

grasses used on golf courses.

2.

Knowledge of soils, chemicals, equipment used for maintenance and upkeep of golf courses; common

grass diseases and pests and environmentally approved methods used for their control and eradication.

3.

Certificate of completion of environmental training.
