Position Purpose

Serves at career level. Conducts studies that support the development of pricing products to meet customers’ power supply needs consistent with TVA’s operational, planning, and marketing objectives. Develops a range of wholesale and retail pricing options to address customer preferences for different types of service, rate structures and contract terms. Incumbent’s principal challenge is to structure menus of flexible industrial retail and directly served pricing arrangements that are competitive, will collect necessary revenue requirements, be consistent with market price levels and patterns, and maintain proper price/product relationships among the different pricing options. As the incumbent performs well in this current position, demonstrate s leadership and technical skills can be reclassified to specialist IV.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Leads the evaluation, coordination, and implementation of rate adjustments and rate changes and cost of service studies

  • Performs analyses that support the development of pricing options that meet customer needs and are consistent with TVA’s financial, operational, planning, and marketing objectives.

  • Performs cost and rate studies which form the basis of TVA rates and ensures that those studies and rate proposals meet industry standards.

  • Develops pricing options to address customer preferences for different types of service, rate structures, and contract terms.

  • Coordinates analysis and inputs from diverse TVA and customer organizations to produce high quality results in a timely fashion.

  • Organizes and participates in internal and external meetings to discuss and explain new or revised pricing and power supply proposals and exploring alternatives as appropriate. Incumbent serves as a team member or leader on some interdepartmental teams to explore new and innovative pricing proposals. Keeps abreast of other utilities’ pricing and power supply arrangements to ensure TVA’s competitive position in the marketplace. Performs benchmarking analysis of rates and products with other utilities.

  • Makes presentations to distributor and consumer groups on pricing issues, as directed.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education–A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Marketing, Business, Engineering or related field of study; or equivalent education, training & experience. A Master’s degree is desirable.

    Experience –Five or more years of applied problem solving experience in economics, finance, or a related discipline.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities—Must have a thorough understanding of factors that drive electricity consumption patterns and how they affect TVA production costs. Must have a working knowledge of TVA’s power policies. Must be proficient in the use of computers including EXCEL, ACCESS, CATS and Pricing Expert, or their equivalent. Must have strong analytical skills, practical problem-solving capabilities, and be able to work independently, meet deadlines and manage a multitude of tasks and requests. Must be able to perform effectively as part of a team and have good interpersonal skills. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
