Pacemaker Technician, Knoxville Heart Group

Part Time, 48 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary:

Responsible for maintaining consistent pacemaker and ICD information and follow-up on all enrolled pacemaker and ICD patients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain patient pacemaker charts and update computer data while maintaining patient confidentiality.

  • Keep PaceArt and Versyss system up-to-date and current with accurate patient information.

  • Enroll patients on Carelink and with Telerhythmics as appropriate.

  • Run Pacemaker Clinics on all patients identified by physicians to be followed by a technician.

  • Keep up-to-date documentation in charts of all care given to patients.

  • Keep logs for billing on all tests, and submit to appropriate office personnel.

  • Keep current physician order information on all pacemaker and ICD patients.

  • Communicate with patients and ordering physicians to maintain consistent timely follow-up on patients.

  • Prepares the patient for pacemaker and AICD reprogramming office visits.

  • Makes sure patients have appropriate testing performed following office visits. Maintains tickler system.

  • Provides patient education with the use of videos and written materials.

  • Handles all calls from patients about their pacemaker or ICD.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

  • Adheres to Studer principles and maintains strictest confidentiality.

  • Collaborate with the patient, physician and other care team members as part of a team based approach to overall patient care.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of one to two (1-2) years’ cardiology clinic experience, with two (2) years’ pacemaker experience or arrhythmia training. Successful completion of Advanced ECG program preferred. Basic knowledge of cardiac anatomy physiology preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

BLS and/or ACLS certification. Current CPR certification required.
