PURPOSE – The Product Development Engineer FIT (PDE FIT) is responsible for Fast Impact initiatives and other Life Cycle Management activities on launched products according to the company’s Design Control process. Maintaining the existing product portfolio includes activities such as cost reduction (e.g. triggered by supplier change) or quality improvement (e.g. triggered by CAPAs). The PDE FIT further acts as a general point of knowledge for Design Control and Engineering Changes.
Sustain the existing product portfolio over the full life cycle in compliance with the company’s Design Control process and other relevant guidelines.
Plan, perform and document product change activities (design and process).
Participate in Kaizen / Problem Solving events and support timely completion of its activities.
Ensure all required specifications and related documentation are in place in due time and quality to assure timely completion (e.g. Design Reviews, Design Transfer, Engineering Change Order).
Manage external partners and suppliers in relation to assigned activities.• Identify process and product improvements and support improvement requests for other departments.
Be a central point of knowledge of and comply with all relevant Product Development guidelines and procedures such as Design Control process and Change Control process.
Continuously report achievements and escalates challenges in a timely manner.•
Core team member representing Product Development in lifecycle management projects.
Technical background (BSc, MSc or equivalent) in relevant field (biomedical or mechanical engineering).
Fluent in English (spoken and written), German (spoken and written) is an asset.
Good knowledge in relevant tools (Kaizen, Problem Solving Process, SAP, Microsoft Office), processes (DCP and Change Control) and relevant SOPs.
Good understanding of impact of product changes on documentation, design, process and quality.
Good knowledge of our products, their history as well as manufacturing methods/limitations and cost.
Ability to work effectively with other groups and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders/good communication skills.
Organizational and multitasking skills with ability to prioritize tasks.
Successful working experience in product development or design engineering in medical device or pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated environments, preferably in the dental industry.
Proficient in MS Office, experience in SAP
