Required: * Completed at least 10 semester credits or 15 quarter credits in early childhood education or child development AND minimum 6 months\' teaching experience in a comparable group setting with he assigned age group (Exceptions may be made with a 2-year Professional Development Plan in place) * Current clearance from the Central Background Registry * Current First Aid Certification, CPR card, Food Handler\'s Card, Annual Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse & Neglect training * Current driver\'s license, care insurance, & access to a vehicle * Dependability, flexibility, & punctuality * Basic knowledge of child maltreatment indicators & prevention of abuse * Relate tactfully, sensitively & non-judgmentally with young children & their families * Work well with children & parents of diverse backgrounds * Work well both independently & as a team player * Good organizational skills & work effectively in changing situations * Experience/background working with families with multiple risk factors & knowledge of community resources * Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, & non-verbal * Knowledge of early childhood development, curriculum development & implementation, positive discipline, & early childhood learning strategies * Strict adherence of HIPAA standards Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the Teacher/Interventionist(s) of assigned age group(s) with implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children ages 6 weeks to 5 years enrolled in therapeutic early childhood program; serving as the lead bus driver to pick up children for therapeutic classes & delivering them home; preparing & serving food from pre-planned USDA menus; & performing routine cleaning & maintenance. Collaborates with Teachers to promote the health & education of each child & to assure a smooth flow of written communication between families & teachers. Other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor & Program Manager. Duties Include: Classroom * Assist Teacher/s Interventionists in providing developmentally appropriate activities for children in therapeutic classroom group settings * Attend to the needs of children * Provide input to Teacher/Interventionists in planning & preparing activities * Observe & participate in all classroom activities to ensure safety * Complete accident & incident reports * Discuss with Teacher/Interventionists any concerns & accomplishments regarding classroom experience & behavior * Maintain a clean, safe & welcoming appearance & learning environment of the classroom(s) Transportation * Serves as lead driver for the Relief Nursery bus/van * Coordinate the regular maintenance & upkeep of the bus/van Food Program & Facility * Prepare snack & /or lunch for groups of up to 11 children * Clean & sanitize kitchen area daily, & bathrooms & classrooms on rotating schedule * Ensure that garbage/recycling are taken out * Comply with health & safety standard
