PACCAR Inc. Project Design Engineer- Zero Emissions Job in Kirkland, Washington

Job Summary The team working on Zero Emissions vehicles is looking for a collaborative and driven engineer with a focus on research and advanced product development. Our project goal is to conceptualize an adaptable electric-powered platform for the global truck markets that will enable the proliferation and profitability of clean energy transportation solutions. The Zero Emissions team works closely with Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF divisions and drives global product development activities. This project focuses on the future architecture of trucks and provides opportunities for creative problem solving and exploration. As a member of the team, you will have an input on the direction of the program and the opportunity to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in creating a path to a cleaner, sustainable future. Job Functions / Responsibilities Develop efficient and cost-effective solutions for an electric vehicle platform. Conceptualize packaging of complex systems to achieve excellent space utilization and flexibility. Develop an understanding of technology trends, how those trends will affect vehicle design, and choose the optimal solutions for future vehicles. Develop concepts into detailed CAD assemblies utilizing Creo software. Collaborate with other team members, departments, major divisions of PACCAR, and suppliers to successfully develop and implement new layouts. Be able to travel, including international travel, Qualifications / Skills BS in ME or related field and in-depth experience in the design, development,and specification of supplier components. 5+ years experience with multiple systems or whole vehicle architecture. Ability to visualize and communicatecomplex system interactions. Willingness to grow personally and professionally, ready to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques. Resourcefulness in solving complex technical problems. Ability to perform and/or lead development efforts, and coach others on design techniques. Advanced proficiency using Pro Engineer or other solids modeling software. Competency in MS Office suite of tools. Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology. Willingness to challenge the status quo. Preferred Qualifications / Skills Experience in the design and specification of automotive, aerospace, or HD Truck components. Experience in developing 1D and 2D Simulations of aerothermal systems. Intermediate ability to perform basic FEA simulations. Ergonomics knowledge, especially in Space Optimization, Human Machine Interface (HMI), and the Berkeley Comfort Model. Why work for PACCAR/Kenworth?
