Description

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Buyer/Planner to join our diverse and cohesive Supply Chain Management Team in Kirkland, WA .

JOB SUMMARY

Entry level position with initial focus on administrative and expediting duties plus professional development and growth opportunities. Will support production, NPI and subcontract manufacturer buyers and managers while learning company policies and procedures. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Build productive internal/external working relationships.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The entry level Buyer/Planner will learn and apply company standards, policies, procedures, and best practices for the following initial duties:

  • Run open PO reports and send to suppliers for review on a weekly basis.

  • Support and clear grief items within 72 hours.

  • Assist NPI subcontract managers in updating hardware trackers.

  • Expedite deliveries of hot items per direction from buyers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The entry level Buyer/Planner will learn the skills and gain experience to perform these additional duties:

  • Plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases, primarily with established suppliers.

  • Review and interpret MRP and other sales order output to ensure appropriate inventory requirements are planned and changes are implemented.

  • Respond to purchase requisitions.

  • Resolve invoicing, documentation, scheduling and quality discrepancies.

  • Maintain vendor and item cards in supply chain management or other enterprise-wide systems.

  • Ensure material quality standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized.

  • Gather quotations, examines bid and place purchase orders within authorized spend and guidelines. Ensure flow-down of requirements.

  • Monitor cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.

  • Monitor and track vendor performance and internally escalate on non-performance concerns.

  • May support periodic supplier business reviews (SBR).

  • Monitor inventory levels of assigned commodities and parts, suggesting changes to order point levels and order quantities to optimize inventory investment.

  • Duties may vary based on whether or not the buyer/planner opts for NPI or production specialization.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college and/or 0-2 years of experience in a related manufacturing environment.

  • Will consider combination of certification (APICS and/or CPSM) and 2+ years of experience in lieu of degree.

  • Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma a plus.

  • Prefer demonstrated familiarity in the essential functions of the position including:

  • Supplier management

  • Purchase Order lifecycle management

  • Supplier quality

  • Manufacturing environment in a related industry preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Database user interface and query software

  • Enterprise resource planning ERP software

  • Project management software

Work Environment:

  • The Buyer/Planner will work primarily in a controlled office environment.

  • Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis.

Base salary range for the Buyer/Planner is $61,229 - $91,843 per year.

Several job-related and non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, licensure or certifications, other qualifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered.
