EIDCA Specialty Products, a diversified science company, provides a wide variety of innovative products for direct consumer applications & manufacturing, construction, electronics & imaging, specialty materials, and other high technology markets.

We have a need for an Analytical Technologist at the Research & Development Centre in Kingston in the Analytical Sciences Group.

The successful candidate will work primarily in the Analytical Sciences Group and will have the following general responsibilities:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team focused on analysis of sample streams from R&D or manufacturing programs

  • Lead and participate in the development and routine operation of advanced analytical methods for the project(s) assigned

  • Manage and maintain various analytical equipment to deliver quality results to the customer

  • Interface regularly with project teams to share and discuss analytical results, understand changing needs of project, communicate timing of workflow through analytical

  • Participate and/or lead various initiatives for the improvement of the analytical facilities and site

  • Document results and methods in various formats and present results

  • Train and/or mentor other team members in specific analytical methods for a given project

  • Work in a business-driven environment that is continuously improving and evolving to meet the changing needs of our customers

The successful candidate will have a solid educational background and experience working in Analytical Chemistry. The individual will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability and desire to be an effective team member and able to provide and receive coaching and guidance to other personnel. As the project work evolves, flexibility will be required in terms of willingness to take on different work and to be flexible in work schedules (eg. Some periods of shiftwork may be required).

Skill Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in alignment with DuPont Core Values

  • B.Sc. in chemistry or related scientific discipline

  • Experienced and proficient in method development and use of: chromatography techniques (e.g., GC, LC, GPC), and spectroscopy techniques (e.g., NMR, ICP, Raman, NIR, FTIR)

  • Other methods such as Karl Fischer, Colorimetry, UV-vis, particle size technology (e.g., Microscopy, SEM, PSD, DLS), and physical and thermal analysis (e.g., TGA, DSC, DMA, Instron, Rheology) would be an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and present analysis in various formats for sharing with customers

  • Demonstrated understanding and use of calibration and external standard response techniques for quantitative data analysis

  • High level of computer aptitude and proficiency in MS Office applications, including familiarity with Power Automate apps

  • Strong organizational, communication (oral & written), team, and collaborative skills

  • Able to take initiative and exercise judgment in planning and executing work assignments

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

  • Ability to learn new techniques and methods

Preferred candidates will also have:

  • Proficiency with statistical analysis tools for monitoring reproducibility, reliability and measurement system error analysis

  • Proficiency with database management, vendor management, and instrument maintenance including ability to use appropriate tools to troubleshoot processes

  • Familiarity with some version of a LIMS for databasing results and information

  • Experience with Joint Health and Safety committees

  • Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System

  • 3+ years of post-graduate relevant industrial laboratory experience in an analytical laboratory

The preferred candidate is local and available to start September 1st 2024.

The salary will be commensurate with experience and background.
