BAE Systems Industrial Construction Project Manager in Kingsport, Tennessee

Job Description

Due to continued growth BAE Systems, one of the world's largest defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is currently looking for a Project Manager to support new construction and retrofit projects through the Modernization Department of Ordnance Systems at Holston Army Ammunition Plant (HSAAP) in Kingsport, TN.

As a Project Manager you will:

Lead a project team to deliver a successfully completed project on within scope, on time, and within budget.

Develops and/or supports in the development complex engineering and/or construction proposals

Represents projects at (HSAAP) in upper management site meetings and in customer briefings/presentations.

Plan/Monitor/Control projects at HSAAP with regard to the following project management practice areas that he/she is assigned to manage:

  • Project Integration

  • Scope/Change Management

  • Schedule Management

  • Cost Management

  • Quality Management

  • Communications Management

  • Risks/Opportunities Management

  • Construction Progress / Construction Monitoring

  • Customer Relations Management

  • Holston Support Groups Coordination (Safety, Environmental, Security, etc.)

Provides regular reports to the Holston Director of Programs on all projects he/she is responsible for.

Solves complex technical problems by providing leadership for developing project plans and their implementation.

Communicates summaries and recommendations to the Senior Program Manager or the Director based on assessment of internal and external resources.

Foresees difficulties and reacts to communicate and avoid misunderstanding.

Serves as primary interface for internal and external customers.

Serves as point of contact for subcontractors, providing leadership and direction to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget constraints.

Determines project scope of work, project performance criteria and fitness for use.

Identifies work elements of the project.

Assigns work and follow-up as project demands.

Sequences and schedules the project work elements and determines the resources required for each work element.

Prepares cost estimates and establishes budgets for the project work elements.

Partners with Procurement Department to obtain bid quotations from subcontract and materials suppliers.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

A minimum of 3 years of experience working within projects on design and engineering, design-build, construction, or engineer-procure-construct (EPC) projects with a concentration in the industrial sector required.

Experience leading industrial design and construction projects and working with subcontractors to execute projects.

Experience creating and delivering presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Proficient with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe.

Proficient in technical writing such as proposal or statement of work development.

Relationship management with groups such as Contractors, Subcontractors, and Customers.

Proficient in guiding the development of successful project schedules. Understands schedule mechanics and applies their proper use to develop a fully integrated schedule.

Experience in forecasting realistic budgets and able to track and control costs.

Profit & Loss experience.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

A minimum of 8 years of experience working within projects on design and engineering, design-build, construction, or engineer-procure-construct (EPC) projects with a concentration in the industrial sector preferred.

Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent.

Experience in managing projects for the US Department of Defense preferred.

Experience in chemical manufacturing preferred.

Experience working on complex high consequence industrial construction projects.

Earned Value Management (EVMS) experience.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $91980 - $156330

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
