Job Summary:
The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests, responsible for providing a warm and friendly welcome. This role involves managing reservations, seating guests, and ensuring a smooth flow of service in the dining area.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interaction:
- Greet guests promptly and courteously as they arrive.
- Manage reservations and walk-ins.
- Escort guests to their tables, providing menus and informing them of their server's name.
Seating Management:
- Monitor and manage the flow of guests in the dining area to ensure even distribution among servers.
- Maintain a waitlist during busy periods, providing accurate wait time estimates.
- Assist in coordinating seating for large parties and special events.
Customer Service:
- Respond to guest inquiries and provide information about the restaurant and menu items.
- Address and resolve guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor at all times.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service.
- Notify servers and managers of special guest requests, dietary restrictions, and other important information.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to manage the timing of service.
Administrative Duties:
- Answer phone calls, take reservations, and handle takeout orders as needed.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down the host/hostess station.
- Keep the front-of-house area clean and organized.
