Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week - not to exceed 19.5 hours per week
Summary of Position
The person performing this job will provide comprehensive instruction in health-related, science-related, and/or medical coding courses, equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills for successful careers in medical office administration. This position involves developing and delivering engaging coursework, evaluating student progress, and fostering partnerships with healthcare industry professionals to ensure students receive a well-rounded education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
Minimum Required Education
Associates Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required in related field; bachelor’s degree preferred
Certification: RHIT , RHIA , RN preferred
For Coding Courses: AAPC or AHIMA certification required
Minimum Required Experience
Associate’s degree with five years of wage-earning work experience (exclusive of teaching) in area of specialization required.
Bachelor’s degree with three years of wage-earning work experience (exclusive of teaching) in area of specialization required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to research, prepare, and deliver health-related courses in the Office Technology Department in three venues: traditional, online, and self-paced.
Health information management knowledge and skills including medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and health information management science.
Office technology skills including keyboarding, word processing and document production, records management, and general office competencies.
Personal computer proficiency with demonstrated knowledge of current operating systems and popular business productivity suite software.
Ability to successfully interact with students, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications skills.
