Description Potomac State College (WVU Keyser), part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, located in Keyser, WV is seeking applications for a Trades Specialist II (Electrician). About the Opportunity The Trades Specialist II (Electrician) position will perform both installation of new construction and general maintenance of existing facilities utilizing journeyman level electrical skills working under the direction of Associate Director or Trades Specialist Lead II We strongly believe in work-life balance and keeping time for things we love outside our work. Wellness programs What you'll do Function as a trades team member, follow procedures and make work assignments to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion, ensuring proper quality and quantity. Inspect completed work assignments and helps to ensure quality control. Ensure that proper safety procedures, equipment and personal protective equipment are used while performing job duties. Receive work orders. Interface with work control, supervisor and requesting party to finalize project needs and scope. Assist supervisor with multi-craft projects related to overall work assignments. Communicate work schedules and goals to employees and customer, creating efficiency and a timely completion of assignments. Provide continual inspection of assigned area to ensure maintenance is completed on schedule, recommend to the supervisor major repair need, assist supervisor in updating deferred maintenance list. Read and review prints on new and existing building projects for repair or construction associated with specific job duties and expertise. Develop as built sketches of completed projects. Maintain knowledge of state, federal and local codes and requirements pertaining to maintenance and construction. Attend project meetings and interact with contractors, vendors and engineers as needed. Determine and recommend to the supervisor the needs of the project regarding, types of crafts, material availability, equipment, paperwork safety checks to maintain proper work and material flow to maintain schedule. Provide daily reports on actual progress versus project progress to supervisor. Maintain the original scope of project to ensure project cost control. Inform supervisor of needed discipline and performance problems. Ensure that work group processes all work requests, materials requisitions, weekly reports, and invoices necessary to complete assignments according to Facilities operation.
