PeaceHealth Summer 2025 Student Intern in Ketchikan, Alaska

PeaceHealth is seeking a Student Intern for a Per Diem/Relief, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $18.08 – $27.12. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

*Flexible onsite work hours up to 20 hours week.

PeaceHealth Student Interns will experience the healthcare profession through an administrative lens by participating in department level discussions and decision-making regarding strategic and operational objectives. The internship will include the completion of an independently designed special project, intended to benefit the organization after the internship concludes. In addition to the assigned project, interns may have the opportunity to experience day-to-day operations (e.g., daily readiness huddles, staff seminars and trainings, etc.), as well as the possibility of interacting with patients, families and staff through rounds and other engagement experiences.

Details of the position:

  • Partners with department mentor to develop a project plan with accountable milestones that meet both the students program objectives as well as the department’s project needs.

  • Develops a roadmap of experiences that align with the intern’s career interest, that could include weekly mentor meeting criteria, informational interviews, hospital tours and shadowing opportunities.

  • Participates in department initiatives in addition to the designated special project, to broaden the intern’s knowledge of the healthcare industry and provide experience working in team-based projects.

  • Performs data analysis and research assistance for designated special project and other departmental initiatives.

  • Provides feedback on the current internship program and assists with process improvements.

What you bring:

  • Required: Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in hospital administration, health administration, health services administration, public health, public administration, business administration or closely related fields.

  • Required: Possesses broad knowledge of current and historical perspectives on health care business management and administration, clinical practice management, clinical research and education, hospital administration and management, finance, human resources and organizational development, information systems, and managed care.

  • Capacity to manage multiple competing objectives, priorities, and projects with an attention to detail (Required)

  • Skilled in excellent writing, presentation, time management and organizational skills (Required)

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams (Required)

  • Motivated self-starter who is an excellent multicultural team player and contributor (Required)
