Job Summary: The Software Operations Engineer II is responsible for implementing and providing primary support for business line applications.  Additionally, the Software Operations Engineer II independently works with business line representatives to determine, implement, test and deploy the firm's software applications.  The Software Operations Engineer II also collaborates with Senior Software Operations Engineers and National IT leadership to provide guidance and improvement on expansion-related projects. Job Duties: Independently works with business line representatives to develop software migration and transition plans during active expansions Interacts with both internal and incoming leadership  to determine business processes, workflows and software needs during and after an expansion transaction Acts as primary project leader for small to medium-sized projects Oversees testing and development of non-routine fixes Carries out software transition and migration tasks in accordance to established plans Manages custom departmental applications and third-party software solutions Supports and applies patches and security updates to systems as needed Builds and maintains system documentation Escalates critical issues to software operations management as appropriate Conducts Level 3 support for business line applications Applies application upgrades for supported systems as well as patches and updates related to vulnerability management Coordinates with Infrastructure team for server lease replacements that impact supported systems ensuring minimal user disruption Acts as liaison and primary owner for production support tickets for specified systems Technical/backup support for other systems, software and other team responsibilities/tasks as needed Provides support and backup coverage for licensing and telecom roles in Software Operations team as needed Responsible for after-hours support in weekly rotation with other Software Operations team members Other duties as required Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent field, preferred Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience with managing and supporting Enterprise Application Systems OR one (1) or more years of previous Software Operations Engineer experience, required Experience with serving as a technical support role, preferred Experience with software development methodologies, preferred Experience with technical writing and documentation, preferred Experience with ITIL processes, preferred License/Certifications: Certifications in Microsoft MTA / MCSD, preferred Software: Two (2) or more years of experience with developing web applications utilizing ASP.NET, VB.NET, Powershell and /or C#, preferred Experience with the following products, preferred: Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 / 2012 / 2013 Microsoft Team Foundation Server Microsoft SQL Server 2008 / 2012 Language: N/A Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills Capacity to work in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple complex projects/tasks simultaneously with a focus on details Capable of successfully multi-tasking while working independently or within a group environment Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Capable of working well under pressure while dealing with unexpected problems in a professional manner Capacity to communicate and interact with all levels of employees and management Ability to interact and build relationships and consensus among people Intermediate knowledge and under
