POSITION SUMMARY:

The Level III NDT Technician is responsible for the NDT operations for which qualified and assigned and should be capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications. Capable of developing, qualifying, and approving procedures; establishing and approving techniques; interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures; and designating the particular NDT methods, techniques and procedures to be used. The primary function of this position is to ensure the implementation, maintenance and on-going development of NDT personnel qualification and certification and NDE technical programs.

Hourly Range: $45/hr -$55/hr. D.O.E.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Periodically review and assist in the update of NDT certification examinations to ensure the effectiveness of this key assessment process.

  • Recommend program improvements as needed.

  • Revise NDT personnel qualification and certification procedures as necessary to maintain program compliance.

  • Develop and maintain all specifications for NDT, including the development and maintenance of all NDT technical procedures, forms and supporting documentation.

  • Assist in the preparation of capital expense and operating budgets relating to the above programs, as needed.

  • Provide support for training initiatives relating to the areas which assigned, and other training as requested by supervision.

  • Serve as representative to ASME, API, ASTM and other bodies, as needed.

  • Maintain an awareness and understanding of all applicable regulations, codes, standards, and specifications, as well as company policies and procedures; complete any training necessary to support these activities and communicate these requirements to affected branch personnel as necessary.

  • Communicate with customers on technical and program issues.

  • Provide training, as necessary, to affected personnel, including customers, to obtain program compliance, process efficiency and effectiveness, cooperation, continued education, and morale.

  • Participate in other general administrative and technical activities such as cost reduction methods, communications, safety, housekeeping, and employee training.

  • Should have sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication, and product technology to establish techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available.

  • Establish and track key performance indicators

  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent, technical school or college credits preferred.

  • Must possess a current ASNT NDE Level III certificate in the NDT method responsible; and possess adequate knowledge in the NDE method responsible. (MT/PT)

  • NAS-410 certification preferred

  • CWI Preferred

  • Proven ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.

  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines.

  • Proven ability to follow and communicate to subordinates precise directions and procedures of the customer on the project.

  • Must be able to communicate with supervisor and co-workers.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
