Lab Technician

This role performs a variety of testing activities on sheet metal aircraft components.

Functions and Responsibilities

· Perform a variety of testing, including tensile, bend, hardness, welder certifications; and metallographic analysis of materials and processes commonly used at Exotic Metals Forming Division .

· Monitor the completion of periodic process control testing and ensures samples are submitted for evaluation.

· Perform necessary testing as requested by Design or Quality Engineering for the evaluation and resolution of material failures related to processing.

· Utilize laboratory test equipment and apparatus and arrange and suggest modifications to equipment for optimal functioning.

· Record test findings; prepare and analyze results for review by customers and engineering personnel.

· Detect and evaluate opportunities for improvement and propose solutions for potential or existing problems within scope of job function.

· May perform a variety of inspection functions to support final and receiving inspection.

· Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.

· Performs all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.

· May demonstrate basic operations to others.

· Requires proficient written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of office procedures, and experience in the operation of office equipment.

· Requires familiarity with personal computers and related software.

· Basic understanding of manufacturing planning and sketches.

· Any other duties as assigned to help drive our vision, fulfill our commitments, and carry out our organization's virtues.

Working Conditions

Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, respirator, and rubber gloves as required.

Physical Requirements

Performs physical activities that may require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 30 pounds, balancing and handling of material.
