Schneller LLC Test Lab Technician - 2nd Shift in Kent, Ohio

Test Lab Technician - 2nd Shift 24-212 This position is responsible for (1) performing flammability and physical property testing, (2) ensuring quality test results, (3) maintaining files, specifications and calibrations concerning the test lab, and (4) supporting Quality Assurance, R & D, Technical Service and NBD activities in flammability and physical property testing. The laboratory conducts flammability and physical property testing for new business/product development (R&D and Certification Services) and quality testing (order release/shelf-life extension of product in the field/contract testing). This position may have work directed or overseen by a Senior Test Technician or Test Lab Leader. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates Schneller and Transdigm values and shares the organizational commitment to ensuring quality products and processes. Generates quality data/results. Reads and interprets work orders. Enters work orders into ERP system for test codes and conditioning. Configures test samples per Schneller/Customer/FAA/AITM requirements including operation of a Heat Vacuum Applicator. Prepares test samples for Schneller re-life certification of Schneller decorative laminate with adhesive. Performs Vertical Burn test per AITM2-0002/14 CFR Part 25 App.F, Part I, Para (a)(1)(i) &(ii). Performs NBS test per AITM2-0007/14 CFR Part 25 App.F, Part V. Performs OSU test per AITM2-0006/14 CFR Part 25 App.F, Part IV. Performs Toxicity per AITM3-0005. Performs physical property (e.g. tensile, coefficient of friction, adhesion) testing to established/defined methods as required to ensure the laboratory is meeting timelines and is productive in its operation. Ensures proper calibrations are done on all equipment (verification and sign-off). Aid in maintaining test equipment in line with test specification details. Performs other assignments as directed by appropriate personnel. WORK EXPERIENCE 1-3 years direct or related work experience in operation of physical testing equipment and practice in following standard test methods and procedures preferred, or 1-3 years of work experience within Schneller developing a good understanding of the Schneller products preferred. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS High School education or equivalent Attention to detail; the ability to follow instructions both written and verbal. Capability of using software such as Word, Excel, and ERP. Math skills including multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals. General knowledge of physical testing procedures. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the testing methods utilized within the lab (technical components and performing). Ability to generate and analyze data to scientific standards. Ability to be effective and multitask in a fast-paced environment. To conform with US export regulations and ITAR 120.15 and EAR Part 772, incumbents for this role must be eligible for any required authorizations from the US government. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation: Position requires operation of test equipment machinery standing for up to 8 hours. Must be able to work in a laboratory environment which can include light lifting (infrequently), fine motor skills to manipulate equipment controls and sample material (frequently) and standing for extended periods of time (frequently). Position may require person to sit (frequently), performing repetitive motions to use a personal computer and other office equipment, as well as walking around an office and industrial environment.
