The Private Banker is responsible for developing, managing, retaining, and growing profitable advisory, banking and lending relationships with targeted high-net-worth clients and prospects, including business owners, corporate executives, and professionals.

Duties & Responsibilities

Independently interact with and service a specific portfolio of clients using an advisory approach with direct management and responsibility for full service private banking relationships.

Actively develop and service a client base both inside and outside of First American Bank’s network using an advisory approach.

Develop wealth management opportunities and participate in the action plan and delivery of an overall financial solution for wealth management clients.

Act as an expert in all facets of deposit and credit advisory including advising, underwriting, and documenting a wide range of credit solutions.

Responsible for the client experience including negotiating, problem resolution, and setting expectations to meet both client needs and bank objectives.

Promptly report and capture all client activity using approved bank systems.

Provide expertise to the Bank’s partners on private bank tools and techniques.

Partner with internal stakeholders to identify issues and recommend alternatives for ongoing processes.

Recommend changes in our product offering that may result in enhanced profitability or client satisfaction.

Exhibit and apply strong risk management and compliance with all policies and procedures including proactive notification to senior management.

Maintain relevant knowledge as it relates to economic conditions, competitive offerings, wealth management solutions, and market activities.

Create and foster a professional network of attorneys, accountants, and other centers of influence valuable to the Bank and its clients.

Participate in community, business, and network groups to promote the overall image of the Bank.

May directly close loans with customers on or off-site as necessary and is the direct point of contact for resolving post-closing loan related customer service issues.

May assist in the preparation, analysis and presentation of loans requiring committee approval.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required with emphasis on business, finance, or accounting.

MBA and/or CFP preferred.

Formal bank credit training and/or credit qualification (or equivalent) preferred.

This position requires the individual to take loan applications and close loans.

This position may require the employee to register and maintain registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).

Minimum five years of experience in high-net-worth client management, sophisticated financial analysis and planning.

Must be professional, comfortable speaking with external and internal contacts with a demonstrated ability to effectively tailor the message appropriately to the audience and situation.

Demonstrated ability to convey thoughts and ideas effectively and succinctly via written formats, including emails, letters, and electronic platforms. Maintain professional standards relating to spelling and grammar.

Maintain credibility through professional demeanor, appearance, and presence by modeling standards appropriate to our environment and industry.

Maintain good working relationships with internal partners by exhibiting exemplary interpersonal skills, adopting a constructive, solutions-focused approach.

Use sound professional judgment to balance the interests of the organization and customer, understanding and using available resources to mitigate risks.

Cold calling sales ability, with assertive, positive, and persistent style.

Proficiency with Microsoft O365 products and applications, including the ability to effectively prepare or review documents, procedures, and reports.

Proficiency with lending origination and Customer Relationship Management systems experience is required.

File sharing systems experience is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and applications, as well as the ability to understand, adapt and adjust responsibilities/workflows as a result of system upgrades.

This position requires regular travel to various locations throughout the Bank's market.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required depending upon business need.
