The Recreational Therapist will review and promote program offerings with the children to discover their interests and desires to participate in the scheduled activities. You will also regularly check in with the individuals to assess attendance and continued interests. Your duties include planning and organizing activities and experiences, purchasing required supplies, maintaining an inventory or recreational equipment and vocational resources, and working to adequately staff all events and/or activities. This position will also provide specific recommendations and plans for children who exhibit issues with motor coordination, in consultation with the medical team.

Qualifications

Education: Minimum of Bachelors degree in Recreation Therapy, Art, Dance, or Music Therapy and qualified for licensing or

registration with the appropriate professional organization.

Experience: Preferably one-year experience (including internship) in conducting therapeutic activities in a program for children or adolescents.

Other qualifications:

• Strong technical skills and comfortable utilizing in-house computer applications for documenting and reporting purposes.

• Must possess excellent leadership skills, therapeutic skills, written/verbal communication and organizational skills.

• Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Drug Screen and Background Check results.

• Must be able to complete a two-week, paid new hire orientation class; hours are approximately 8:30am to 5:30pm daily.
