The Associate Director, Product Management will lead the Abound by Carrier product management team. This is a senior level product strategy, management, and development role responsible for the overall product vision, roadmap across feature modules, feature refinement, product outcomes and business outcomes.
Abound by Carrier (abound.carrier.com) is a cloud-native platform that unites previously siloed building data from existing building systems leveraging edge technology and data generated by cloud-based sensors to create smarter and more resilient spaces that improve occupant wellness and building performance. The product leader sits at the intersection of technology, business and design driven by customer advocacy. The product leader is responsible for research and planning with business stakeholders and research colleagues; business development; design working with UX counterparts; implementation and quality assurance with the delivery team; and ultimately product increment releases and customer value creation.
Serve as subject matter expert on market and competitive intelligence within smart building landscape
Create clear, compelling value propositions that resonate with customer and purchase influencers.
Develop and evangelize vision for the product and near-term vs. long-term roadmap
Develop business cases and drive the business to achieve desired outcomes.
Employ prioritization frameworks such as WSJF (weighted shortest job first), MSCW (must-should-could-won’t), RICE (reach-impact-confidence-effort) to determine sequencing of research and development work
Partner with the Design team to test and refine concepts for development readiness
Manage team of product managers organized across product offerings
Interface with product marketing, GTM and commercial teams to communicate new feature availability, roadmap and product offering – to deliver platform growth objectives.
Work collaboratively with Marketing, Sales, BU (HVAC, Fire & Security) Product and Engineering to support expansion, cross-sell and pull-through opportunities
Immerse in product KPIs including financials, usage, adoption, satisfaction and VOC
Must have significant experience within the built environment with a working understanding of , building technologies, environmental , energy, health, and occupant engagement considerations
Minimum of 5-10 years of digital or software product experience including experience in product management and/or product owner role
Minimum of > 3 years of proven, hands-on experience in Agile methodologies Pre-existing experience and/or demonstrated aptitude for learning digital tools such as Aha!, Jira, Confluence, Miro, LucidChart, etc
Demonstrated knowledge of User Experience fields of research, interaction design and creative design
Experience bringing innovative, impactful products to market
Experience working with remote and globally distributed teams
Great communication – you can “translate” bi-laterally across business stakeholders, design colleagues and development and engineering teams
Be bold – identify and communicate misses where the team needs to pivot as well as underserved opportunities where the team should take greater risks and push forward
Business acumen – desire to understand how every new feature delights customers and impacts the business
Technology passion – innate drive to learn and test out new technologies
Detail oriented – you can see the big picture but also sweat the small stuff
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from a world-class school in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
Master’s degree in applicable discipline highly desired.
Agile Product Owner and/or Scrum Master certified or have “on the job” experience.
