Summary The Networks and Telecommunication Services (NaTS) Service Line, at Kennedy Space Center, is seeking to fill an Information Technology Specialist position. Serves as a senior specialist under the Integrated Network and Infrastructure Office and is responsible for planning, development, installation, operations, and maintenance in support of communications systems and facilities. Responsibilities Maintains technical insight into the cause and the plan of action when damaged, failed, or otherwise nonconforming hardware, equipment, or systems are encountered, such as troubleshooting unprecedented communication systems issues and problems. Applies detailed knowledge of NASA's Enterprise Cable Plant Systems architecture and interfaces to meet NASA and other government agencies communications requirements with maximum efficiency. Supports the development of unique or leading-edge communications technology to meet specific mission requirements. Evaluates the accuracy of system records and plans improvements associated with NASA's Enterprise Cable Plant System. Prepares requirements for complex/high value projects involving communications equipment supporting construction or modification of facilities, systems, equipment, or hardware. Maintains contact with contractors to discuss and resolve technical, operational, and/or cybersecurity problems in areas such as Enterprise Cable Systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Providing technical insight on the construction or modification of facilities, systems, equipment, or hardware in accordance with the technologies and standards associated with Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI); Monitoring contractor performance and reporting on requirements, projects, system records, or plan improvements; Providing technical guidance and engineering planning support for Inside/Outside Cable Plant technologies and architecture to support telecommunication equipment or systems. AND IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
