Cook Inlet Spill Prevention and Response Licensed Mariner - Engineer in Kenai, Alaska

LICENSED MARINER -ENGINEER

CISPRI is currently recruiting Licensed Engineers (3) to work offshore within Cook Inlet, Alaska. Our company is responsible for providing oil spill response services within Cook Inlet and portions of the Gulf of Alaska, as well as providing offshore supply services to our Members.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of all vessels electrical and mechanical systems found onboard Company vessels. The Engineer works in conjunction with the vessel crew and takes a leadership role in support of maintaining the vessel. They report to the Chief Engineer and the Captain of the vessel and will assist the Captain in communicating and enforcing all company policies and procedures.

DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates a commitment and foster a culture of safety onboard all Company vessels by ensuring proper safety procedures are followed by all Company employees.
  • Participates actively in the daily safety meeting to discuss the days objectives, pre-job safety planning requirements, and duties of the crew in support of the objectives set.
  • Maintains the vessel in a state of readiness at all times.
  • Maintains and operates vessel potable water and chlorination systems to remain compliant with the ADEC potable water permit.
  • Manages and communicates required fuel and lube levels in support of ship service needs.
  • Oversees and assists with bunkering and fuel transfer operations to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  • Maintains and operates the black water / gray water / wastes tanks, treatment, and ensures compliance with USCG and ADEC environmental rules and regulations specific to the area of operation.
  • Makes regular vessel equipment rounds and confirms all equipment is operating within specifications and operating parameters.
  • Manages the vessels preventative maintenance program and ensures all PMs are completed properly and on time.
  • Tracks and manages spare parts inventory.
  • Actively participates with the preparation of and the safe and efficient execution of the maintenance periods, shipyard repair specifications and drydock evolutions.
  • Assist with building the vessels annual shipyard and maintenance budget and manage projects in support of the established budget.
  • Assist and support the vessel crew as directed by the Captain in support of the vessel preventative maintenance program.
  • Prepares the engine room and mechanical spaces for inspection by regulatory agencies. Leads and conducts all inspection tasking.
  • Accurately maintain the vessels maintenance and equipment service logs.
  • Shall represent the Company and vessel in support of third-party consultant and equipment vendor or repair technicians.
  • Must have a high degree of professionalism and the ability to communicate and present information.
  • Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Must be able to provide concise and clear reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and LICENSES OR CERTICATES REQUIRED:

Must meet general MMC requirements and sea service documentation.
