Summary
The Procurement Manager at CSS Farms plays a critical role in ensuring we have the right programs, delivering the right products, to our farms to support our primary purpose of growing a quality potato crop. In this role, you will be the liaison between the Company and our suppliers, facilitating the successful purchase and delivery of agronomic products and services to our numerous farms across the United States.
This position will report directly to our Chief Financial Officer, and ideally will be based out of our Shared Services office in Kearney, Nebraska but we are willing to entertain remote candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage effective relationships with our suppliers to execute purchases of chemical and fertilizer products at the right quality, price and quantity needed for our operations
· Openly and consistently communicate with suppliers while managing transaction logistics to ensure seamless and on-time delivery of products or services
· Review third-party invoices and contracts to ensure proper pricing, identify discrepancies, and seek timely and appropriate resolutions as needed
· Evaluate pre-pay, early fill and other fall programs as necessary
· Ongoing reconciliation of supplier and manufacturing rebate program payments to ensure deliverables match expectations
· Evaluate manufacturer and distributor incentive programs to ensure CSS Farms is maximizing and optimizing value
· Support CSS Farms locations in the execution of their agronomy plan
· Engage with farm locations to build an annual product demand and forecast; set up this process to be replicated and seamless as part of the planning process for future years
· Collaborate with Agronomy leadership team to support product direction and pursue lower cost alternatives
· Analyze third party financing options that may improve overall working capital management
· Review existing business processes and provide recommendations, and subsequently implement solutions, that better support our farming operations
· Support customer pricing initiatives and inflationary calculations
· Lead and support the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for upcoming crop-year purchasing activity; document process to be replicated in conjunction with annual crop year cycle
· Review MRO processes and suppliers and make recommendations to improve or lower our total cost of ownership
Desired Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Agronomy, or related field
· Natural project management skills – passion for understanding current process and providing recommendations, all the way through to successful implementation of new solutions and processes
· Ability to successfully facilitate end to end execution of a project from ideation to final delivery
· Exceptional attention to detail and ability to uncover discrepancies in information, identify opportunities for clarity and review detailed information in a fast-paced environment
· Strong interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated ability to seek clarity, challenge status quo and communicate on behalf of the company
· Comfortable and willingness in building relationships with critical internal and external stakeholders in order to gather information, understand new processes, challenge existing processes
· Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel to maintain and manipulate data, derive insights, audit for quality and accuracy
· Strong proficiency in other Microsoft and technology programs, with ability and willingness to quickly learn and master new programs as needed in the role
· Strong customer service skillset, with emphasis on the ability and willingness to anticipate needs and drive for action and solutions
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to present information in a competent, efficient manner to leadership and external stakeholders
· Ability to comprehend, read, write, and communicate proficiently in English.
· Ability to travel up to 20% of work time, or more as needed dependent on project status and needs, with additional flexibility in schedule for routine company meetings and events.
