The Database Infrastructure Operation team builds the physical infrastructure required to deploy and support databases. This includes the physical hardware, network configurations, security, DBMS install and configuration, application connectivity and availability of the platforms.

This role is responsible for the technical direction the build and deploy of hosted database systems. Perform DBA expert role for Database Infrastructure Operations relating to initial build, deploy and ongoing maintenance of the DBMS systems. Will act as a technical expert on configuration, deployment, problem analysis, modifications, implementation, and maintenance of databases and database infrastructure. Will be required to provide production infrastructure support as well as on call support as it pertains to database systems and availability.

Primary function will be the build and deployment of the DBMS onto the operating systems. Member of a team that provides hands on deployment of the DMBS, monitoring, security tool integration, capacity planning, application consulting and break fix analysis. Work with other teams to integrate DBMS with network, firewalls, security systems, application access to the database and logical database support. Deployment and support of multiple DBMS systems including Oracle, Postgres, SingleStore, MySQL and Yugabyte. Responsible for the availability of the databases, backups, monitoring and replication tools used to provide high availability.

  • Strongly prefer Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, or applicable Engineering discipline (e.g. Electrical Engineering).

  • Minimum of 5 years IT/DBMS experience which includes experience as a Database Analyst. Experience database designer/developer providing high availability solutions within the Oracle, Postgres, SingleStore, MySQL, Yugabyte and other DBMS platforms.

  • Extensive hands on Oracle deployment, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting is required. Prior working experience with Oracle Engineered systems (Exadata) required. Knowledge and hands on experience of replication tools Golden Gate, SQL replication and Data Guard. Must be proficient utilizing Oracle Enterprise Manager to configure and diagnose databases and database servers.

  • Proficient in “High Availability” concepts including database recovery procedures, HA design and effective disaster recovery planning.

  • The successful applicant must be proficient in database data access methodologies, understand and managing the database drivers to provide high database availability and performance as well as possess a high competency in problem analysis and performance tuning skills.

  • Knowledge of DBMS support utilities (e.g. OEM, RMAN, SSMS) and monitoring tools. Ability to extract and analyze database logs for root cause analysis. Ability to interact with application developers to resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
