Sirius Computer Solutions Senior Security Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri

Position Summary :

The Senior Security Engineer is part of the integration team who delivers deployments and technology evaluations and integrations in our Technology Enablement Center for our clients. The Senior Security Engineer has experience deploying and managing a diverse set of technologies and understands network and security protocols and concepts to include the following: internet protocol routing, border gateway protocol, virtual local area network, authentication, access control, intrusion prevention and detection, endpoint platform protection, cloud access security, audit configuration, patch management, vulnerability management and asset management.

The Senior Security Engineer works with internet protocol security, transport later security, public key infrastructure, network security, network correlation tools and virtualization environments such as vSphere. The Senior Security Engineer translates our clients’ operational requirements into technical solutions. Responsibilities include configuration and architecture assessments, lab building for technology evaluations and deployment of security solutions. The Senior Security Engineer provides expertise in support of the sales team in the sales process and provide information on security consulting services to clients.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Facilitate architecture, design, and deployment of security solutions with emphasis on network security, endpoint protection platform and cloud access.

  • Develop test plan and identify testing requirements, scenarios, methodologies, and configurations as part of technology evaluations and integrations.

  • Deploy infrastructure and security solutions in support of technology evaluations and client implementations.

  • Perform testing and document results outlining functional outcomes of testing in an objective and neutral manner. Consider strengths and cautions of given solutions which may include items such as operational considerations, architecture, end user experience or support of specific requirements.

  • Assist in the development of plans and timelines.

  • Provide clients with consulting services during a contracted engagement. Work within area(s) of expertise (e.g., architecture and design, product deployment, etc.).

  • Understand and identify business processes specific to client's environment and execute appropriate risk management practices. Make recommendations for improvement of processes and controls.

  • Create and present clients with reports detailing methodology, findings, recommendations, and remediation activities to increase security within the target environments.

  • Assist the sales team with technical and security expertise in support of business development activities. Participate in sales calls, help scope projects, and provide effort estimates.

  • Comply with all-time compliance and time entry

  • Meet billable utilization

  • Training/Certifications - Engage in professional development, including obtaining industry related certifications as directed by management, to maintain continued growth in professional skills and

  • Administrative Overhead – Respond to email and phone calls and complete time cards, expense reports, and status reports in a timely manner as

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

  • At least five (5) years’ Information Technology work experience to include the following:

  • Experience architecting, designing, and deploying security solutions for enterprise environments and working with enterprise security solution sets

  • Experience with deploying and managing diverse set of security technologies

  • Demonstrated technical understanding of system architecture and design, operating systems, network infrastructure, device configuration hardening, and patch and configuration management

Other Position Requirements :

  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex, technical information clients can understand

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines

  • Demonstrated ability to perform technical skills/knowledge transfer to clients

  • Demonstrated ability to lead junior consulting professionals

  • Knowledge of emerging security technologies, software, and methodologies

Preferred Requirements :

  • Experience with Palo Alto, Check Point, and/or F5

  • Experience with Exabeam, QRadar, and/or Splunk

  • Experience with Symantec

Essential Functions :

The position exists to provide technical consulting solutions to customers a nd as such requires the ability to travel to and from customer sites and interact with customers on an ongoing and regular basis.
