Overview

Children's Mercy is proud to offer the only Pain Management Program in Missouri. Our team is made up of caring clinicians, researchers, educators and other health care professionals who look at all aspects of your child's life--physical, mental, social and emotional--to help manage and treat their pain.

Our mission is to provide services that promote and support your child's optimal comfort, health, function and quality of life.

The Pain Management Program works together with other departments and clinics at Children’s Mercy to provide safe, effective and efficient pain care that centers around your child's unique needs. We use sophisticated technology to treat pain, especially as we collaborate with the Divisions of Critical Care and Hematology/Oncology. We also work closely with Clinical Pharmacology, Gastroenterology, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Rheumatology and Social Work.

RAPS Program:

Our team is specially trained to treat patients with a broad range of complex pain syndromes. Specialists from several clinical areas work together to provide comprehensive patient care. These specialty areas include pediatric rheumatology, physical and occupational therapy, and pediatric psychology.

Program highlights

  • Our program provides comprehensive treatment for patients experiencing chronic pain.

  • Patients work to restore normal function, including school attendance, playing sports, and socializing.

  • Patients will learn tools to help relieve emotional distress related to pain as well as how to self-manage pain flares.

  • Conditions we commonly treat include complex regional pain syndrome, primary juvenile fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain, and central pain sensitization syndrome.

Clinical Services:

Pool therapy,Yoga, Group Music Therapy, Therapeutic Art, and Self Regulation, "Talk Time", OT, and PT, Home Activities, and School Work

This role provides family-centered patient care that is based in scientific theory and is outcome focused. Manages and develops yoga programs and services. Coordinates the care of patients in the ambulatory setting. Provides direct care and services as a clinical resource for the education and consultation of the healthcare team.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provides therapeutic yoga services to patients in the ambulatory setting.

  • Assists with the development and integration of yoga services in the ambulatory setting, while providing education to hospital staff.

  • Providers education to patients and families related to yoga.

  • 2 classes per week, one class scheduled for Friday mornings (preferably), the 2nd will be scheduled based on availability

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent 1-2 years experience

  • 2 years previous teaching (yoga) experience

  • Yoga Certification by a Yoga Alliance approved program Required

  • Restorative Yoga Certification Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $24.41/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
