Honeywell Lead Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri

Summary

The Lead Engineer role is a professional level position independently performing highly technical and advanced engineering functions on a portfolio of assigned and/or self-initiated projects by applying standard mathematical, physical science, and/or engineering technologies. This role will provide significant project leadership to a variety of internal and external stakeholders. This professional position could include individuals with experience or a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Positively interface with and influence Design Agency, Quality, Systems, Program Management, AME and ISC counterparts.

  • Serves as the KCNSC subject matter expert and supports procurement for connectors.

  • Supports management in creating strategies to successfully align the interconnect suppliers for future programmatic needs.

  • Identifies and drives technology development to advance production capabilities at the interconnect suppliers.

  • Stays current with relevant emerging technology and business trends.

  • Conducts research and development experiments to resolve complex engineering and quality problems involving highly technical and scientific methods.

  • Writes technical reports on results and conclusions drawn from experiments conducted and incorporates findings in formal specifications.

  • Defines and recommends new designs, design changes, and alternate designs of connectors with the design agency counterparts.

  • Works with next assembly counterparts to ensure program needs are met and resolve any technical issues.

  • Determines acceptability of processes and materials in conjunction with design agency, quality, and other affected organizations.

  • Lead the interconnect team to ensure all MRL progressions and requirements are met for the emerging programs.

  • Applies, develops and recommends research based innovative methodologies and technologies which are equal to the industry's state of the art to resolve processing and design problems.

  • Provides technical consultation to management to ensure success of the connector business.

  • Responsible for work that involves long range and/or complex business objectives in field of expertise.

  • Evaluates and implements innovations and technological advances that improve quality, reduce flowtime, improve productivity, and enhance operational surety.

  • Delegates preparation of evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, and makes recommendations for product, test equipment, procedures and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime.

  • Responsible for mentoring, coaching, and career growth of new talent.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Materials, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited Engineering program or a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program.

  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities. ยท

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

  • United States Citizenship.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

  • Advanced Engineering or Business Degree.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Purchased Product Engineering at KCNSC.

  • Understanding of component Design for Manufacturing & Assembly.

  • Experience with creating work directions and product tracking.

  • Experience with Design Agency interface, cooperation and influence..

  • Understanding of materials and interactions of materials in connectors and headers, i.e., plating, plastic materials, machining, welding, brazing and hermetic seals.

  • Ability to apply advanced engineering and analytical concepts and techniques to highly complex technical projects.

  • Ability to work without supervision, to provide technical consultation, guidance and to mentor other employees.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of interconnects and interconnect designs.

  • Experience on-boarding new suppliers to the supply base.

  • Ability to lead projects successfully from development through production.

  • High tolerance for ambiguity and change.

  • Ability to onboard new team members and provide ongoing mentoring and coaching.

  • Demonstrated track record of making and keeping commitments.

  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
