This position offers the opportunity to exercise your design skills, plan and produce 2D/3D deliverables, and showcase your leadership talents through coordination, communication, and execution of projects.
The Electrical Designer will work on a diverse portfolio of projects with various clients in the refining, midstream, chemicals and renewable market industries to perform the following duties:
Design physical layouts for grounding, duct bank, conduit, cable tray, and lighting.
Plan and develop a full range of drawing deliverables such as one-lines, motor schematics, hazardous areas, grounding, duct bank, lighting, power, cable tray, installation details, and section/elevations.
Perform calculations for grounding, duct bank, conduit, cable tray, and lighting.
Follow all company, client, and project design and drafting standards.
Execute, organize, and maintain project revisions to designs and drawings in a logical and well-structured manner.
Interpret and apply design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
Review design deliverables for quality assurance within scope, budget and schedule.
Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into electrical design and layouts.
Coordinate drafting and design efforts with both internal and external clients and vendors.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology or related field and 7 years related experience or associate's degree and 8 years related experience or 9 years progressive detailing and design experience.
Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings. Strong preference for experience in SmartPlant 3D and AutoCAD.
Three or more years of refinery, gas processing, or pipeline experience preferred.
Experience in Class I Division 2 Groups B, C, D hazardous areas is a plus.
Good understanding and ability to navigate NEC code, Electricity Basics, and CAD Standards.
Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
Must be willing to travel to the job site and meet with clients and construction personnel to scope the project and answer construction problems as needed.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
