Summary
Successful candidate should have the ability to Inspect, diagnose and repair, electrical, hydraulic or powertrain related construction equipment issues. This individual will be required to work on several different types of equipment and will have the knowledge of or the ability to learn onboard computer systems and diagnostics.
Preferably they have experience with the following types of equipment, truck mounted, rough terrain, lattice, slick boom, wheel, track and or crawler cranes and bucket trucks. On occasion they may perform work on, skid loaders, excavators, dozers, track mounted equipment, compact equipment, boom lifts and other various types of construction equipment as well as on-highway light, medium and heavy-duty trucks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reports to Used Truck Service Manager, who will provide brief description of issues and supporting information related to the vehicle.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions to perform required maintenance and service. (Must have the ability to utilize laptop, etc. to be able to access needed information and perform diagnostic tests.)
Performs work as outlined in work instructions set forth by Used Truck Service Manager; efficiently, accurately, and in accordance to Custom Truck One Source standards.
Inspects and services vehicles and makes repairs and adjustments both at the service center and in the field.
Verify work performed, road test vehicles as necessary.
Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs) and timecards completely and accurately.
Tag all warranty and core parts for return.
Advises management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
Attends Custom Truck One Source safety training and follows all safety requirements.
Attend Custom Truck One Source and factory -sponsored training classes.
Keeps work area and service vehicles neat and clean and be able to account for all CTOS tools when in use.
Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
Communicate easily with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment down time.
Flexibility to travel beyond the area of coverage, based on business need.
Work closely with Used Truck Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.
Must work safely in a fast-paced environment – many times under pressure or with deadlines, in both shop, and field/jobsite environments.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
1 year direct experience in field
Preferred Qualifications
Current CDL preferred, but will train right candidate.
Strong communication skills.
Proven commitment to safety.
Competencies Required
Ability to perform DOT, ANSI Crane or Bucket and Dielectric tests highly desirable but. Will train the right candidate as needed.
Working knowledge of heavy truck systems preferred, including air brakes, suspension, driveline and electrical, preferred but, will train the right candidate.
Proficient with use of circuit tester and or multimeter.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, electrical and hydraulic schematics preferred.
Must work safely in a fast-paced environment – many times under pressure or with tight deadlines.
Experience in diesel and gasoline engines preferred.
Experience troubleshooting PAT, LMI and similar on crane control systems preferred but, will train the right candidate.
Work is primarily performed in the shop but due to the size of some equipment, some work is performed outdoors in our yard.
Basic rigging knowledge and experience with heavy construction equipment preferred.
Ability to work independently or with others as directed.
Restore equipment to working order with a sense of urgency and safety.
Exhibit positive interaction with all Custom Truck One Source employees and customers · Ability to use PC, Tablet, Phone to complete accurate records of all services completed or to diagnose systems as required.
Ability to work day shifts with overtime and Saturdays as necessary.
Must bring a positive attitude and be to accept changes as they come with shifts in priorities.
Must pass drug test, fit for duty and clean background check I have read and understand all the requirements of this position. I can perform the essential functions of this.
