Amentum Crime Gun Intelligence Specialist (CGIS) Level II in Kansas City, Missouri

Amentum is seeking a Crime Gun Intelligence Specialist (CGIS) Level II to support active contracts in the following locations:

Kansas City, MO

Description:

The CGI Level II Specialist assists in the entry of evidence, quality control, site management, data analysis, and summarizing reports through ATF’s National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) and the National Tracing Center (NTC). CGIS Specialists produce crime gun intelligence products for law enforcement agencies, but do not participate in law enforcement operations. The CGI Level II Specialists develop investigative leads, assist in target/suspect identification, and perform related administrative functions.

Workweek: Monday through Friday

Hours: 8am – 4pm

Position Responsibilities:

This position requires the ability to apply experience and judgment in selecting procedures to be followed in searching, interpreting, selecting or coding items to be entered from a variety of sources. Candidate must possess the skill and ability to analyze, summarize, report, and share information. At this level they are not expected to provide liaison support outside the office.

  • Provide analytical and intelligence process support to ATF, the assigned field division and the Crime Gun Intelligence Center.

  • Provide usable crime gun intelligence and analysis.

  • Provide analytics and research specific to crime gun related violent crime.

  • Provide support with crime gun identification to provide accurate data for crime gun tracing.

  • Duties shall include all and/or some of the following:

  • Gather offense/incident reports

  • Enter evidence into Integrated Ballistic Information Systems (IBIS)

  • Perform image and correlation reviews.

  • NIBIN hit analysis

  • Create link charts

  • Compile all data necessary to provide ATF with actionable law enforcement investigative leads

  • Gather crime gun data for entry into e-Trace

  • Enter, modify, update and retrieve data in computer applications.

  • Ensure data conformity with recognized procedures and protocols, including accuracy of trace information.

  • Conduct Crime Gun Trace Analysis of documented trends.

  • Facilitate the restoration of obliterated serial numbers and ensure that those crime gun are traced

  • Analyze e-Trace data

Position Qualifications:

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of formal education, work experience and on the job training.

  • Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years general experience with local, State, or Federal law enforcement, although more than three years of experience is preferred but not required.

  • Must successfully pass an ATF background investigation which includes criminal history, credit/financial queries, drug use, previous employment/education verification, and DMV records check. An active ATF Public Trust Clearance is required to perform in this role. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain an ATF Public Trust Clearance.

  • Must be willing to provide a DNA sample as part of employment screening.

  • Ability to work with and coordinate the efforts of local, State, and Federal law enforcement.

  • Ability to analyze, summarize, report, and share information.

  • Working knowledge of Windows-based computer applications and software.

  • Must successfully pass the competency testing for acquisitions and correlations review after being trained to perform image and correlation reviews on NIBIN equipment.
