General Purpose

Manage strategic sourcing of essential materials and/or supply relationships, ensuring consistent procurement standards and activities. Collaborate with various stakeholders to understand business goals and lead them through more prominent, more complex, higher financial impact, and/or large strategic sourcing initiatives. Support the formation and execution of complex or specialized category strategies. Focus on optimizing value stream through development and execution of near-term and multiyear campaigns (2 to 5 years) and prioritization of initiatives. Lead the management of supplier relationships; align priorities with internal business leaders; lead campaign implementation across business units; and seek opportunities to maximize total value delivered to DFA.

Job Duties and ResponsibilitiES

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies, focusing on spend efficiency (cost savings), portfolio/material optimization, process and tools definition, and innovation

  • Effectively work across business units and lead large and/or complex projects and teams. Support team and cross-train on complex strategy development; adapt quickly to changing business priorities

  • Define cost-savings targets through analysis and identification of “addressable” spend and understanding of business goals

  • Deliver against defined savings targets and develop robust pipeline of viable projects for the future

  • Develop, monitor, manage, and report on KPIs for agreed-upon categories and/or supply relationships

  • Manage material inventories, build supply plans, and utilize demand based mass balances to drive purchasing recommendations

  • Develop relationships with suppliers to partner on strategy development and drive productivity, innovation, and continuous improvement

  • Manage supply base to ensure supply continuity, service, and quality

  • Manage procurement ERP footprint, ensuring an accurate portrayal of current supply state; this includes maintaining requirements, verifying POs are loading correctly, managing requirements by contract, and monitoring purchasing activity against contractual details for opportunities and issues (e.g., date, spend, and volume thresholds)

  • Lead sourcing events and strategies; compile spend data and conduct category research. Create templates for RFPs and collaborate on implementation plans with the procurement team

  • Draft bid records and waivers for sourcing events as defined by procurement policy

  • Monitor purchasing activity against contractual details for opportunities and issues (e.g., contract expiration, thresholds (both spend and volume), non-compliant spending)

  • Oversee monthly inventory reconciliation for DFA owned materials and drive resolution of inventory discrepancies

  • Review and manage invoice issues, shipping errors, replacement of materials not meeting company specifications, and cancellation of orders, keeping stakeholders abreast of status throughout the process

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, document, and resolve sourcing issues (e.g., quality claims, late shipments, blocked invoices, incorrect invoices), escalating to management when predefined conditions are met

  • Own maintenance of material requirements planning settings for goods and materials under individual purview

  • Support management of supply base and supply risk matrix

  • Monitor variance reports and lead resolution

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring service orientation and effective capacity analyses and contingency planning

  • Interpret business challenges and recommend best practices relying on specialized procurement and/or industry knowledge to optimize category opportunities

  • Participate in and/or lead projects involving broad processes (e.g., division/company) and provide feedback on how we can continually improve and evolve each process to maximize transparency, performance, and efficiency

  • Follow up with leadership and key stakeholders at established intervals to keep apprised of evolving business needs, solicit feedback on performance, and agree on modified plans for prioritized activities in response to the evolving environment, with measurable deliverables

  • Comply with DFA policies (e.g., financial policies, procurement policies, confidentiality, and risk management policies) and communicate policies to suppliers and stakeholders to minimize risks

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, supply chain management, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)

  • 6 or more years of progressive procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or related experience, preferably supporting a multi-plant, matrixed organization

  • Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of contract administration

  • Advanced knowledge of procurement, supply chain, and general business principles

  • Advanced knowledge of market and data analysis, supplier risk management and suppler performance, sourcing category strategy development, negotiation strategy, and contract development

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems

  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques

  • Able to analyze complex information and prepare data supporting procurement

  • Able to balance between strategic and tactical responsibilities

  • Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism; able to negotiate under pressure

  • Able to work collaboratively with others and build consensus around key initiatives

  • Able to develop and manage complex supplier relationships

  • Able to work with a high-level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Able to lead multiple priorities and/or project teams, meet deadlines, and drive results

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
