Licensed Practical Nurse
Emergency Dept & Acute Care Unit
Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care as an LPN, using sound judgment based on knowledge, experience, and competency.
Collaborate with RNs and healthcare team members to ensure patient care remains within the LPN scope of practice and seek guidance when needed.
Perform focused assessments, formulate care plans, and document patient information comprehensively to promote effective communication.
Follow UPMC policies, LPN Practice Guidelines, and state regulations to ensure safe and high-quality care.
Build compassionate, patient-centered relationships and provide education to patients and families for smooth transitions of care.
Participate in unit activities, support continuous learning, and seek performance feedback for professional growth.
Identify opportunities for quality improvement in patient care and the workplace.
Maintain work-life balance while demonstrating accountability, cultural awareness, and a commitment to safe practices.
Graduate of a State Board-approved Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program.
Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and ability to assess patient-specific needs.
Experience in healthcare preferred
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, departments, and patients/families.
Ability to work effectively in a complex environment, manage multiple priorities, and use specialized equipment.
Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.
Current LPN licensure or temporary permit in the state or through the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC).
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire.
Act 34 clearance required.
