The Opportunity
The Project Engineer will lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic product and process-related programs aligned with Operations Leadership priorities. Specifically, this role will tackle cost out, design improvement, supply chain disruption, and process improvement projects.
How You’ll Work:
The Project Engineer is based out of our production facility located in Kalona, until early 2025 when we will be relocating to a new facility in Coralville, with the opportunity for flexible work arrangements including a flexible schedule and part-time telecommuting.
What You’ll Do:
Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, and resources
Coordinate and lead project team meetings, ensuring clear communication and collaboration among stakeholders
Monitor project progress and performance, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions as needed
Prepare and present project status reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements and issues
Utilize design engineering tools (CAD, FMEA, etc.) to develop and evaluate design concepts
Ensure all design changes comply with relevant standards and regulations
Help to identify and/or shepherd continuous improvement opportunities to boost profitability
Collaborate with key business partners to lead projects by deploying structured problem solving to improve existing product and processes and eliminate waste
Motivate and drive cross-functional team performance toward achieving the common goal of completing projects according to the defined objectives, on budget and on time
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, co-ops, and other technical oriented personnel
What You Need:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of technical project management (PMP preferred but not required) and/or design engineering experience
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Project, Office, Word, and Excel
Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
What Makes You Stand Out:
Passion for driving improvement and leading change
History of success leading, prioritizing, and implementing multiple projects simultaneously
Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as packaging, warehouse, machining, injection molding, and medium to small-size product assembly
Experience working with remote sites, employees, and customers
Knowledge of the injection molding process and the ability to troubleshoot plastic defects
Lean Six Sigma certification
Experience with business processes including stage-gated development processes, order entry, ERP systems, change management systems
Experience with ISO 13485 & 9001, FDA, European, and MHLW requirements
Experience with Microsoft Teams, PTC Windchill, PTC Creo Parametric, and AutoCAD software
