Job Description
Position Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, develop, and coordinate volunteer efforts. This position is part-time, 16 hours/week.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Policies and Procedures
Maintain confidentiality of volunteers, coworkers, and Immanuel Living.
Understand and support the philosophy, policies, and standards of Immanuel Living.
Follow department policies and procedures.
Position Duties
Work with division and department directors to evaluate the need for volunteer services within the Organization.
Direct the recruitment, interviewing, selection, and placement of volunteers, with special emphasis on recruiting volunteers from member congregations, to meet the Organization’s needs.
Provide volunteer orientation, training, and evaluations to ensure consistent, high quality service to the Organization.
Develop goals and objectives for the Volunteer Program and monitor progress toward their achievement.
Serve as a consultant to Administration and other departments in areas related to volunteerism.
Direct the development of appropriate recognition, retention, and motivation programs for volunteers.
Plan and schedule volunteer service placements and changes in assignments.
Maintain appropriate volunteer personnel records and reports to document volunteer services and hours.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with professional peers.
Participate in relevant continuing education programs to enhance professional growth.
Requirements
Essential Physical, mental, and Emotional Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; ambulate independently; talk and hear.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds routinely and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work under time and/or deadline pressures.
Education and Experience
Prior experience of two to five years in supervision or management, preferably in a similar organization
The ability to relate to persons of all ages and of diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities.
