What you'll be doing:
This position will be working in the Operating Room (OR) setting, collaborating daily with OR staff, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals. As a Perioperative Pharmacist, you will play a crucial role in optimizing medication safety and effectiveness in the operating room setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Licensed Pharmacist Advisory Council (LPAC) with pre-op medication discussions.
Perform home medication list reconciliations prior to surgery.
Manage charge reconciliation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Provide Pyxis and Meditech support, including adjusting PAR levels and managing medication inventory.
Conduct Medication Utilization Evaluations for ongoing quality improvement.
Communicate with OR staff and providers regarding medication shortages and suggest appropriate alternatives.

Qualifications & Experience:
Preferred:
Prior OR pharmacy experience
Required:
PharmD from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy or equivalent clinical experience.
Current Montana State Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist License.
Minimum of 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience.
Strong analytical, data entry, and advanced math skills.
Ability to make independent clinical judgments under pressure.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new software.
Required certifications: RQI (as applicable to assigned areas), ACLS (for specific assignments), and First Responder (for select departments).
Job Specific Duties:
Evaluates and verifies orders for therapeutic appropriateness, proper dosing, optimal dosage form, drug interactions, allergic reactions, route and rate of administration, and therapeutic redundancy.
Provides patient-specific pharmacotherapy recommendations and drug information to the appropriate stakeholders as applicable to assigned area(s).
Performs daily review of pharmacy reports including pharmacokinetic monitoring as applicable to assigned area(s).
Documents clinical interventions appropriately in electronic medical record.
Implements all drug use policy and formulary decisions of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee.
Reviews and updates Collaborative Practice Agreements per department protocol for assigned area(s).
Supports and precepts pharmacy students on practice rotations as applicable to assigned area(s).
Assesses and evaluates the medical and drug literature. Compares and contrasts therapeutic regimens and uses for new or existing drug treatments.
Provides direct and indirect patient care for patients through Collaborative Practice Agreements as applicable to assigned area(s).
Develops and participates in operational and clinical projects as determined by departmental needs and ongoing projects as applicable to assigned area(s).
Performs direct patient care rounding, order verification, discharge counseling, and education of other healthcare professionals as applicable to assigned area(s).
Supervises the pharmacy technicians as applicable to assigned area(s). Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students on rotations as applicable to assigned area(s).
Maintains pharmacy knowledge through continuing education and applies new principles to current practice as needed.
Exhibits knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to job duties and HIPPA.
Coordinates medication ordering, preparation, dispensing, and administration systems for the oncology patient populations as applicable to assigned area(s).

Schedule Details:
Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs.
Schedule: 40 hours per week (8 hour shifts), Monday - Friday
Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
