Logan Health Employee and Labor Relations Business Partner in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

The Employee/Labor Relations Business Partner plays a critical role in fostering positive relationships between employees and management, ensuring compliance with employment and labor regulations, and driving organizational effectiveness. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of experience, with a strong preference for familiarity with Montana regulations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of employment and labor laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and tact.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; minimum of five years’ experience preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of employment, wage and hour, and labor laws required, with experience in Montana regulations preferred.

  • Advanced degree, Juris Doctorate, or Certification in Human Resources area preferred.

  • Experience conducting workplace investigations.

  • Experience advising leaders on performance management.

  • Experience with facilitation, presentation, and training delivery required.

  • Experience with collective bargaining, contract administration, responding to grievances or arbitrations strongly preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and competency under stressful situations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Meditech, Workday, and/or API preferred.

  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Strategic Subject Matter Expert: Provide strategic Employee and Labor Relations support by advising management on staff effectiveness, performance management, contract administrations, compliance with regulations, and resolution of complaints and grievances. Support management in conducting layoffs, grievance meetings, investigations, complaint resolutions, and progressive discipline activities.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data to identify trends and collaborate with business leaders to address root causes of issues. Develop organizational effectiveness solutions and provide coaching to individuals, teams, and leaders.

  • Collaboration and Initiative: Collaborate with HR Leadership, Business Partners, and subject matter experts to drive organization-wide programs and initiatives such as performance management, labor management, and change management.

  • Coaching and Development: Provide coaching or formal training to leaders and employees on leadership development, HR management, contract interpretation, problem-solving, and performance management. Initiate investigations and provide guidance on issues such as working conditions, disciplinary actions, and harassment.

  • Proactive Problem Solving: Identify HR trends and propose programs to address them. Act as a conduit between client groups and HR, ensuring consistency and teamwork within the department.

  • Administrative Duties: Maintain responsibility for administrative tasks such as corrective action tracking, unemployment response, grievance management, and responding to Requests for Information or discovery requests.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental needs, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to evolving priorities.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
