Job Title: Superintendent

Job Description

The Superintendent will be responsible for starting and running jobsites for various commercial and pre-engineered metal building projects. These projects will include offices, churches, retail/restaurants, pharmacies, dealerships, and metal buildings. The Superintendent will manage subcontractors on the jobsite and work directly with the contractor on site. They will ensure that the project stays on schedule and is completed correctly. The Superintendent may need to provide hands-on direction and instruction when necessary. Additionally, they will utilize basic technology for project work. A carpentry background and experience as a Site Manager or Superintendent, where they were responsible for managing contractors on a jobsite, is preferred. The individual should be able to lead and direct others while running the project from day one. An orientation period will be provided to prepare the construction manager to work effectively, with a focus on safety, team collaboration, and communication on all job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and start up jobs

  • Schedule and coordinate contractors onsite

  • Schedule and coordinate materials

  • Manage project timeline throughout projects

  • Coordinate with the contractor on site

  • Perform work when needed

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of commercial construction experience

  • 5+ years of carpentry or trade experience

  • 2+ years of experience managing others onsite

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in wood or metal/steel framing

  • Experience in structural iron or steel

  • Experience in steel stud, carpentry, hanging doors and windows, siding and roofing, masonry, and concrete

  • Ground up construction experience

  • Experience with school projects, church projects, and healthcare projects

  • Skills in construction, carpentry, commercial construction, leadership, framing, blueprint reading, construction management, general contractor duties, safety, construction scheduling, construction documentation, construction estimating, concrete construction, wood framing, wood frame, and steel erection

Work Environment

The company is a small general contractor that works on various commercial construction projects in Southwest Michigan, with their office located in Kalamazoo. Most projects are in the Kalamazoo area, and the majority of their business comes from repeat clients. The typical workweek ranges from 40 to 50 hours.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00
